🌙 Dreams 💫

I made my first stop motion animation (micro) movie earlier this summer and was psyched to have it selected for viewing at the Dream Animation Film Festival. @dream.animation.festival 🎉
90 seconds or less of an actual dream I’ve had; 2026 Theme: Urban

“Feathered Friend”
My dream begins in the restroom of an underground train station where I run into an author who I admire ( @elizabeth_gilbert_writer ). I’m absolutely fascinated by her feathered hair. She proceeds to give me advice about a creative project I’m working on, which is to 1) ignore opinions and the superficial trivialities of things like social media and 2) I will find some pointed advice in a very specific part of her most recent memoir.

(Side note- when I woke up from this dream, I bought the book she was referring to and did, indeed, find some advice exactly where she said it would be. Dreams are amazing!) by @purokintsugi

Autumn Equinox and The Rose Report
ローズ・レポート 🌸 - summer edition

My bb roses have been such a balm this summer. There are 3 dozen, all started from seed, and 75% are thriving. They’re the first plants I visit each morning and I’ve learned many things, including the fact that I’m a helicopter parent.

Four have shown their colors - white (Puro Blanco), pale pink (Ballet) dark fuchsia (Guadalupita) and this last one is looking just like a New Mexican sunset. So wild, so beautiful.

I’ll winterize them in November, but hope their roots continue to expand this autumn 🍂 🥀 it’s been a magical little project. by @purokintsugi

Reunited and it feels so good 💔➡️❤️

I just got this message from the most amazing clients: “[The platter] is happy under my friends pastel next to my other friends lamp on top of my other friends chest. She loved it here on our Mesa and I can feel her presence in your Kintsugi bowl - it reminds me certainly of our impermanence. Thank you Robin. It’s beautiful” 🥲

Blessed is the person who has so many artist friends in their life!

That’s a wrap for this round of custom repairs. There’s still one more chance to get a custom repair in for 2026 which begins early October. (I admit, this sounds like a million miles away, but they’re already selling Halloween candy in the grocery so here we go 🙄) by @purokintsugi

Someone reached out for a Kintsugi repair on a mug made by a mutual friend who passed away a few years ago. Rene was a seriously talented human, and also someone who did not bat an eye when it came to offering “constructive” criticism. So as I’ve been working on his mug, I can literally hear him whispering in my ear…
“Really? You’re gonna leave it like that? What about that spot?”
“Turn on your humidifier you dumbass. Did you forget you live in the desert?”
“That’s too wet. No, tomorrow it’ll be too dry.”
“I mean, I’ve seen worse.”

I’m almost finished and don’t want to give the mug back. It’s been nice having Rene to work with again. I miss you buddy. Thanks for keeping it real. 💖 by @purokintsugi

Back in 2020 (the year that lasted a decade) I kintsugi’d (is that a word?) this gorgeous porcelain cup for a friend. He had a set of them - they were made in Japan and had been a gift from his aunt.

I was so smitten. 😍 Orange is a favorite color and I coveted the retro, mid-century design. So imagine my surprise when I was thrifting with mom, poking around the dishes, and saw this teapot + set of rice bowls. Hello, old friend!

I promised myself (and my husband) that I would stop buying teapots every time I went to Japan. But I haven’t said anything about buying Japanese teapots in the US. 🤩 by @purokintsugi

Long live the art of hand written letters ✍🏽 In pre-email days, I was such a pen pal person, some of whom I corresponded with for decades. I love opening the mailbox to a tangible envelope covered in stickers whose mere arrival says “Hey friend! I was thinking about you.” I also had an enviable sticker and stationary collection, prized possessions that I routinely organized and reorganized. I have dreams of starting a snail mail subscription where people get a monthly letter and some handmade art on postcards and greeting cards to mail to other people. Analog isn’t dead, AI (and its subsequent brain rot) can just chillax.

This porcelain teacup is from Japan. Custom Kintsugi repair in 22k gold (and since this one’s personal, a handwritten letter). 🍵 💌
