This is 40!!

Everyone’s Chapter 40 looks different.

Mine just happens to be in the midst of preparing for the ultimate gift I could ever ask for.

I have hustled my whole life for this moment: motherhood. And God has continued to blow my mind with a double portion🥹.

Please pray for our safe landing … four weeks to go.

Thank you everyone for the birthday love!

Love y’all, mean it! 💜💜💜 by @purposedriventlc

For generations, 𝐂𝐨𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐄𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 has been one of our nation's greatest assets for strengthening communities.

Every day, Extension professionals are educating youth, supporting farmers and producers, empowering families, developing local leaders, advancing community and economic development, and helping communities navigate change. Much of this work happens quietly, but its impact is felt for generations.

It is always an honor to partner with Cooperative Extension professionals through keynotes, retreats, and leadership development experiences focused on reconnecting people to the mission of Extension—and to their own purpose within it.

My 𝐑𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞™ 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 challenges teams to:

🌱 𝐒𝐨𝐰 — Reconnect to the mission and rediscover individual and collective purpose.

🌿 𝐑𝐨𝐨𝐭 — Build resilient teams, strengthen relationships, and cultivate trust during seasons of change.

🌳 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰 — Lead with confidence, deepen community engagement, and create meaningful impact.

🌾 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭— Reconnect to the mission and rediscover individual and collective purpose.

One lesson continues to resonate wherever I have the privilege to serve:

Organizations don't accomplish missions—people do.

When people reconnect with 𝘸𝘩𝘺 they serve, they lead differently, collaborate more effectively, and create lasting impact in the communities that depend on them.

As organizations begin planning 𝐅𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟕 conferences, annual meetings, retreats, and professional development events, I would love the opportunity to partner with your team.

Whether your audience includes Agriculture & Natural Resources, Family & Consumer Sciences, 4-H Youth Development, Community & Rural Development, Communications, or Extension Administration, my sessions are designed to inspire, equip, and provide practical strategies that participants can immediately apply.

One of the most important leadership lessons I've learned over the years is this:

𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗲𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗴𝗶𝗳𝘁𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆'𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺.

Not everyone who sees your value is assigned to your journey.

Some people recognize your gifts because they want to cultivate them.

Others recognize them because they want to benefit from them.

There is a difference.

𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂—𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘆𝗼𝘂.

Are your gifts being watered?

Are you being challenged to grow?

Are you becoming more of who you were created to be?

Or are your talents being consumed without anyone investing in your growth, your well-being, or your future?

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗼.

𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲.

They create space for you to learn, stretch, lead, and flourish—not simply produce.

Know your worth, but also know your assignment.

Sometimes the most courageous thing you can do is walk away from a place that celebrates what you can give but has 𝗻𝗼 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲.

Go where your gifts are cultivated—not merely consumed.

Working as a 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡, one thing has become abundantly clear to me:

𝐆𝐨 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝, 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝.
Yes, every position is replaceable. That’s the reality of the workforce.

But after years of developing my craft, investing in myself, and understanding the value I bring, I can confidently say this:

𝐌𝐲 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐦𝐚𝐲 𝐛𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐦𝐲 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝.

That’s not arrogance—it’s the result of showing up every day with purpose, investing deeply in people, and leaving organizations stronger than I found them.

I encourage every professional to seek environments where your gifts are nurtured rather than diminished.

𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬:

Your greatest responsibility isn’t simply to fill positions.
It’s to cultivate people.

The best leaders don’t just manage performance—they create environments where people feel safe to grow, challenged to improve, and empowered to become more than they imagined possible.

When people are celebrated instead of merely tolerated, they don’t just stay longer.

Never settle for an environment that only values what you produce.

Find one that values who you're becoming.

The second greatest decision I have ever made to marrying you, is making you a Father !! Seeing you become and be a Dad has been by far one of the most amazing things I have had the honor of experiencing.

Your love for Jo and our little bean is unmatched and is an example of true unconditional love. Thank you for your sacrifices. Thank you for putting our family first. Thank you for being our babies’ caregiver, chef, jungle gym, healer, safe place and so much more.

I never have to question your intentions when it comes to our family and for that I am so blessed. Thank you for being our covering, our stillness, and our rock.

One of the greatest lessons agriculture has taught me is that growth is often invisible before it is undeniable.

No one plants an acorn and expects an oak tree tomorrow.

Yet somehow, as leaders, we expect immediate results from our teams, our organizations, and sometimes even ourselves.

Leadership is not about forcing growth. It is about creating the conditions where growth can occur.

The best leaders I’ve encountered in agriculture, education, healthcare, and community development understand this. They invest in people before they see the return. They water potential before it becomes performance.

Every employee.
Every volunteer.
Every student.
Every community member.

Each carries seeds of possibility.

The question is: Are we creating environments where those seeds can take root?

Because every acorn has an oak tree inside of it.

The audience may be different, but the message is always the same.

Whether I’m speaking to educators, healthcare professionals, nonprofit leaders, Cooperative Extension staff, farmers, or executives, I often find myself returning to the same truth:

Everything in life can be traced back to agriculture.

Even creation itself follows an agricultural blueprint.

We sow.
We take root.
We grow.
We mature.
We produce a harvest.

Before any of us took our first breath, seeds of purpose, gifts, talents, and potential were already planted within us.

That’s why one of my favorite sayings is:

“Every acorn has an oak tree.”

The question isn’t whether the potential exists. The question is whether we are planted in the right soil.

Are we in environments that challenge us to grow?

Are we receiving the nutrients we need to thrive?

Are we willing to weather the storms that strengthen our roots?

Growth doesn’t happen overnight. Neither does leadership.

And when the harvest comes, it isn’t just for us.

The fruit of our growth is meant to nourish others.

The lessons we learn are meant to be shared.

The opportunities we’ve been given are meant to create opportunities for someone else.

A healthy tree doesn’t consume its own fruit.

It produces abundance so others can benefit.

May we all continue to grow deeply rooted in purpose, cultivate the gifts we’ve been given, and remember that our harvest was never meant for us alone.

🌱 Every acorn has an oak tree.
