Words you spoke creep into songs that I once loved and I get images of you
Memories of who I thought you were and hopes of who you could’ve been
I find myself reminiscing over a man who never even did exist
I clung to lies and bitter truths that did twist
I broke free but my memory has you etched
I once felt true love was far fetched
But I gave my all to a man playing catch
I shook you off quickly but my love is sticky your presence lingers with me
I know in time I will fully let you go…the hope and the possibility
But the love I felt will always stick with me
As a lesson and a reminder, a blessing and a curse
It was dead on arrival why didn’t I see the hearse
Pouring money from my purse
And putting you in all my verbs
Poetry that I could feel
Heartbreak that hurt
Hopes that faded away buried in the dirt
I believed in you

Funny how us falling apart made me fall back in love with me

GRACE IS LOVE - I stood up today and I felt so tall.
Makes me wonder have I been playing small?
I cried today and prayed and my soul felt heard.
As tears flowed from my face, I didn’t utter a word.
Truly one of the best things I have learned…I spoke with my spirit. I spoke with my visions. I spoke with my dreams. I spoke with no limits. I replayed the tapes of the many lives I’ve lived. I gave thanks for being kept safe. I gave thanks for being, knowing, showing, and creating love. I forgive myself for shrinking. I forgive myself for thinking the wrong way about the right things and the right way about the wrong things. I forgive myself for not loving on me enough. I forgive myself for expecting too much of me when things are already tough. I still hold the hand of the little girl I am inside. I hold tight because I’m grown now and I’m her guide. I forgive myself for locking parts of me away. For not showing up for me and not taking up more space.
I stood up today and I felt taller than ever.
I felt whimsy, I felt better, I felt witty, I felt clever.
I am a survivor who has what it takes to thrive.
