the world’s hottest choir premiered my arrangement of “over rocks” this weekend and i feel like i got hit by a big beautiful truck

a mountain of thanks to @jarenandthefeels for his encouragement and input through late nights of arranging, inviting me to dream big, and conducting the with great joy. thank you to jaren and @kenyonduncanmusic for allowing me into the community i moved here hoping to find.

thank you to this incredible group of people for making me feel overwhelmingly welcomed and supported, and most importantly for singing that one “woo!” like you really meant it.

thank you to each of the featured songwriters for bringing us all electric currents of inspiration this season: @joyaskewmusic @ericgabriel @elliottskinner @tothtunes @benantics @tosotosooo @maiakmusic

the surreal cherry on top was having @shknudtson play his original drum part for the performance and watching @emma.lambiase hear @treebeardjazzman absolutely kill her bass solo on his trumpet. so many happy tears, watching a shared idea grow from nothing into something.

i really can’t wrap my head around the little life this song has now. it’s continuing to fulfill its highest purpose: recruiting my favorite people in the world to make music about my crushes.

“over rocks” with a choir!!
commissioned and premiered by @brooklynchoirproject
arranged by me
conducted by @jarenandthefeels
drums @shknudtson
keys @jessecg17
bass @koahohoho

many moments of the arrangement drew from these brilliant contributions to the recorded version:
bass @emma.lambiase
synths by @soup_999999999 and @youcancallmecass
the big riff @guitar_witch
electronic drums @nabhold

thank you to @onthedlourdes for clocking in to record this perfect video

i love you all 🪨 taken in First Unitarian Congregational Society in Brooklyn by @pursermusic

got it bad is out now

this thing came from a jam with the legend @natjenkinsmusic we broke our necks rocking out and screaming this hook at one another. it wasn’t a complete thought until @pursermusic showed up to my studio one morning in June with bloodshot eyes after staying up late writing verses. really pulled up on me with “the sun is speaking in blistered whisperings, through freckles on your shoulder spelling out ‘it’s never over’” completely insane

co-producer: @natjenkinsmusic
vocals, lyrics: @pursermusic
mastering: @masterinparis

shoutout @_leke_o for visuals

thanks everyone for listening and have fun yearning
