Travis Scott x Fragment Design x Air Jordan – an iconic triple threat that deserved to be launched in style, so it was only fitting that we took over Tokyo Bay for one unforgettable evening. An event three months in the making. Racing sims and custom photobooths. A car runway with more JDM fire than Daikoku on a Saturday night. Ryota Daimon giving an airbrush masterclass. Surprise live performances from Nene, MonyHorse, JP The Wavy and Cactus Jack’s very own SoFaygo. And of course Travis Scott himself, breaking open the “hijacked” shipping container to deafening shouts from attendees desperately hoping they’d be amongst the lucky few chosen to receive pairs of the limited collab on the night. Yokohama hasn’t seen such a raucous reaction to American product since Commodore Perry showed up in 1853. Rosalia. Savoy pizza. Megan Thee Stallion. Madam Woo. Daido Moriyama. And… FRANK? Tokyo’s inbound tourism boom has seen international tastemakers play an increasingly influential role in defining contemporary “Japan” on the global stage. What does this mean for soft power and cultural narratives in the age of social media? Our very own @mksnd will be giving a presentation on guerrilla social marketing and subverting the cultural codes of soft power, exclusively at @fwbfest.info at 17:15 on Friday, August 1st in Idyllwild, CA. Mike will also be conducting an interactive workshop on cultural cartography at the Stellar Trust Circle earlier in the day from 13:00. Tickets at fwbfest.info by @pushjapan
SHINZOU @yukichiba_ Yuki Chiba and Stillz are back with another collaboration that cements them as one of the top creative duos in the world right now. New album 永遠 shows off Yuki Chiba in a more reflective mood, and 心臓 is a tender ballad with a highly emotive music video to match. 流れる might have taken two-and-a-half years, but this barely took two-and-a-half weeks, with DP @_mikul coming in clutch on the tightest of timelines.
