Reposted from @ardo.writes: I find that it becomes harder to read in the 2-3 weeks ahead of FOLD but when it comes time to be on-site for the in-person part of the fest, I find small pockets of time (first thing in the morning in bed or between events) to read on my phone. Last year, it was The Bandit Queens by Parini Shroff but the last few days, it was Funny Story by @emilyhenrywrites.

Today is my day off and I spent it binging most of the book. I thoroughly enjoyed it and believe it shares first place with Book Lovers. It’s the relatable trauma for me! But also nice to disappear into a romance that left me feeling relaxed (but also tense in secondhand embarrassment at times!).

Seven years as festival worker! I’m glad that I’m still in love with books as deeply as I was as a library kid. Another reason for loving Funny Story. Like a character says, a great librarian makes all the difference in the world.

Reposted from @seeyashread: Finally, ten years after reading the first book, I have finished this fantastic series. If you were ever a kid who loved X-Men, or have once asked yourself “how did we get here”, or asked “how do we get out of this”, this classic-in-the-making is for you. While I felt the last book could have been more radical (in philosophy as well as action), I found the series overall to be quite satisfying. As the events outlined in these books reflect more and more of our world in uneasy ways, my advice is: do not wait ten years to read THE DIVINERS series by Libba Bray.

Got a secret? Well, don't keep it to yourself! Welcome to another episode of Put Some Nostalgia On It. This is where Ardo and Yash chat with their friends about the books they loved as tweens and teens. In this episode, they invited Mika and Kayi to discuss Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard! They talked about the popular book series, its 2010 adaptation and its 2022 horror adaptation.

Ardo and Yash do an edition of "If You Liked...Then You'll Like..." with the show Dimension 20 on Dropout TV. Dimension 20 (or D20) is a show that blends tabletop roleplaying games with comedy. In this episode, our hosts recommend a book for each main cast season (no side quests allowed in this one!). What recommendations would you make? If you haven't already seen Dimension 20, WHAT ARE YOU DOING? GO! NOW.

I finished this book in a single (count it!) ONE day. I am a MESS of tears. Who doesn’t love a book reflecting the parts of you that you don’t want to face but also include a sweet romance? Ugh. How dare @mayaameyaw make me WEEP! Now I’m gonna try meditating after this experience. Anyways, highly recommend giving this a read!!!

ABOUT THE BOOK

Ballet is Aisha’s life. But when discrimination at her elite academy pushes her to her breaking point, she decides to pivot. At her new public arts school, Aisha scores more dance opportunities than she’s ever had before. And it doesn’t hurt that she gets to take classes with her bestie . . . and with Ollie, an adorably shy musician who keeps throwing off her usually impeccable balance.

Yet even as Aisha navigates friendships, family conflict, and first love, questions about her dance career open up new and old wounds. Aisha must find strength in herself and place her trust in others to make her next move.

Reposted from @seeyashread: Had to celebrate the start of my winter break with a cozy bath! Decided to go with KINGDOM CONS by Yuri Herrara, which I purchased from @themysteriousbookshop during my recent trip to NYC. The book is a beautiful and painful snapshot of a tough life, framed as part fable and part crime romance. I loved it. ❤️🍷📕 And for anyone curious: the black cherry bathbomb is from @cksoakbathco. 🍒 by @putablurbonit
