I’m revisiting Doku Mori today because this is one manga I really want more people to discover. It’s such a wildly imaginative tale. Cuteness and darkness, working in tandem to make you feel every type of emotion…no other manga I’ve read has done this aesthetic quite like DDMM. I yearn for the day this manga gets an official English release (only fan translations are out now)…and for that to happen, we need more readers so if you love horror or dark fantasy at all, go read it! I’ve decided to show my appreciation for my many followers by showing off some of my own art work. Yes, these are all characters that I’m developing all by myself. Yes, I love animal characters, and yes, Beastars played a sizeable part in it lol😅 With my wealth of understanding from reading manga, I wish to use them to tell stories of my very own someday. It still feels far away, but I’m willing to try. Thank you to everyone who’s followed my page, and big thanks to @subways_manga and others for getting me into a support circle. Shinobi Undercover is still not all that great imo, but boy does it have its MOMENTS. A bit of tragedy, a bit of growth, and lots of emotions running about (and also an Ace Attorney parody at one point) I’m starting to appreciate it more and more with all the effort the authors are putting in. I can feel that they’re trying to move things forward, and it really does seem to be paying off. I’m happy that they went from being axed to reaching 100 chapters! 🥳 and hey, with all the experience they’re getting their next series could be a straight-up banger! So how’s the Gintama author’s new series going? A few months ago I would’ve said, “Not great.” And yet, I couldn’t bring myself to give up on it. Now, after new developments, it seems I made the right call😌 Gintama was famous for its more serious and compelling arcs, thrown in amidst the absurdity. And whenever that happened, they always hit HARD. Now, in Class 2B, Sorachi has FINALLY brought a story arc of that caliber. We’re getting to see deeper sides of the characters (particularly the demon king), and they’ve now been hit with a display of morality that has turned the world’s concept of “heroes” and “villains” on its head. I’ll let the shared panels do all the talking, but reading this felt very rewarding after the manga’s sloggy setup (cant even lie, even after the welcomed change of setting it still felt pretty weak) . It feels like we’ve finally arrived at the emotional meat of the story Sorachi is trying to tell. The man has been struggling with returning to “serialization hell,” missing deadlines and contending with age and health problems, but he’s expressed desire to keep on going with CLass 2B, and create a new generation of heroes for modern readers to enjoy. Lalawag has to be the best character in Centuria so far, she is getting more and more compelling as an antagonist with every new chapter. All of her personalities (created as doppelgängers by her gift) have made it clear that she has ulterior motives and wants to use the main gang as a means to an end (of the world)…and yet, Lala herself is horrified at the thought of doing so. The other selves are hounding her to give in to darkness, but she is genuinely fighting against them at all times. This is what makes Lala so very unique to me: she is totally unpredictable. You KNOW this powder keg has to blow up at some point, but there is no way of knowing when or how. Even worse, her other selves are starting to leak into view of others now. I GOTTA post Akane again. Ain’t NOBODY left in Jump doing it like Akane. And especially not the way grand master Issho doin it. Dude turned an innocuous lil story about ordering soba (one of the FIRST stories he ever learned btw) and made it this darkly theatrical production through sheer demonic aura (and an assist from the manga’s panel work). A rather abrupt ending tho…which could well mean that it’s just a fraction of his power😵‍💫 Issho is one of the most enticing antagonists I’ve seen in my few years of reading. It’s super easy to hate him with his extreme and convoluted methods but in my mind he’s goated, and will only get deeper as we learn more. Thank you all for the birthday wishes this week. It’s truly been an honor to share so many cool mangas with you, even if I don’t reach as far as I used to. And today I got another one: an award winning manga with a new anime adaptation about, you guessed it, making manga. This one features high schoolers trying to follow their dreams, after one discovers that her straight-laced teacher is secretly her favorite mangaka. I could only read the first volume, but I’m sure this will deal with the consequences of fame and expectations and how they can burn you out. The teacher’s now-icy attitude towards the industry, the warning she gives the main gang, and the series title all clued me in. I dont expect this to fill the void of Monochrome Days, since every manga of its kind seems to have a different approach. The style and use of color are really impressive though, and I bet the anime pops in even bigger ways! For once the anime might be a better approach to this series, if only cuz the rest of the chapters are unavailable… Source: Draw This, Then Die! By Minoru Toyoda by @putre.mangas

It is my birthday, and I’m gonna do what I want: make another post featuring more of my very own character designs! Which I said I would share more often like back in February and then just didn’t 🥲🥲🥲 I really hate to hold out like that, but the truth is I don’t draw as often as I used to and sometimes when I do it comes out wrong and I lose my morale😞 but I know I have to keep trying! Don’t want this all to go to waste Most of these guys don’t have names just yet, but they’re all filled with personality and I’m pretty happy with them. especially the fifth slide, I LOVE how the details turned out I hope they make your day a bit better somehow, and if you want to leave words of appreciation here that would be the best b-day gift of all!❤️ by @putre.mangas

It’s the 1-year anniversary for Someone Hertz and the color page is GLORIOUS, I love when it gets all collage-ey like that😍plus the main duo’s dynamic is sweet as ever Though it’s starting to suffer a bit from the typical SJ romance roadblocks. This is just me but I’m not fond of times when the ML goes “oh there’s no WAY she sees me that way” or “you’ve got it all wrong” and “oh god why did I say something so cringe??” (after saying something genuine from the heart) and I’m like, bro don’t let your low self-esteem getting the better of you cast away your shame or it’ll drive a wedge between you and her at some point! Oh…I think I’m in love again. This…this is ASTOUNDING🌟💥 truly unlike any other fantasy I’ve seen lately. Though it could be comparable to Frieren in some ways? What does a dark elf, once the strongest spellcaster in the land, do when she suddenly has no magic left? Simple enough: she reinvents herself. She finds joy in all the other non-magical things in life. Crafting, cooking, dancing and more, she falls in love with it all. And when conflict does arise, she makes do with her sheer elven strength no biggie🙃 The actual manga begins centuries after she’s adopted this lifestyle, and the plot so far has been wonderful for what it is. But the ART is the true kicker for sure, oh it is the most delicious I’ve seen in ages!! It feels like a passion project about having new passions for life and I completely understand the hype for it now.
