Ireland on the brain. Probably because I just realized I missed St. Patty’s Day. Throwback to waiting out a hailstorm on Cruit to see these 🌈 🌈

They say you can’t go home again…

$7 loops, waiting hours for my name to blare over the PA while I chipped endlessly on that ragged putting green. Crazy nostalgia! I was the kid in the low Nike snapback, just another Tiger wannabe. A little too young to be playing the tips but no one would dare talk me out of it. I got an education and then some at Byrne, Essex C.C.C.’s sister course. Sold to the County for a song and left to languish at the bottom of the hill. Well they finally did her right. The County pumped in the funds and restored templates in all their proper glory, with some good turf (firm AF!) and a few smart routing changes…now let’s just hope they can keep it and manage the amount of play 🤞🏼. I may have been young and dumb but I knew there was something to that place - it was hiding in plain sight all along: a Bank’s golden age 💎 that punches above its weight in a neighborhood full of heavy hitters. Damn proud she’s stepped out and ready for the world to see 👀 🌎 ⛳️

And to finish this short soliloquy, it’s either well done at Star or it’s not done at all 👊🏼 ⭐️ 🍕 ya know?! taken in Francis A Byrne Golf Course by @putt_for_show

Onto the next 🚶🏼‍♂️

Currently sitting on the train headed to work and finally able to process the week that was. Great experience at my first @mga1897 Open. @arcolacc was absolutely pure and every bit as advertised. Thank you to staff and grounds for presenting us with a true major test. Coming up short only makes you want it more 👊🏼
