Today, the Catholic Church celebrates the memorial of Blessed Pope John Paul I.
He is remembered as the „Pope of the Smile“ or „God’s Smile.“ John Paul I was beatified by Pope Francis in St. Peter’s Square on September 4, 2022; his memorial is today, August 26—the date he was elected Pope in 1978.
