In 2022, former Florida Gator basketball star Patric Young was paralyzed in a rollover crash. Since then he has turned his pain into purpose through the Patric Young Foundation, bringing hope and help to others living with spinal cord injuries.

This video shows that hope coming alive for Cody Mathis and his family in Baldwin.

After a motorcycle crash last year left Cody with a spinal cord injury, transportation became a major challenge. He told me he had missed doctor's appointments and opportunities to go out with his family because he didn't have a way to get there.

That all changed yesterday. His wife told me it was truly an answer to prayer.

The Patric Young Foundation blessed Cody with an adaptive van and watching the moment he realized what this would mean for his life and his family was incredibly moving. It’s something I’ll never forget and I wanted to share it with you.

The first thing Cody wanted to do? Surprise his children who are 3 and 8.

Now, he wants to get Jacksonville Jaguars tickets. Cody missed the entire last season because of his injury, and he's looking forward to getting back out and enjoying life with his family.

We will be sharing more of Cody's story on the news, but this is what I captured on my cell phone yesterday.

This is what happens when pain is turned into purpose.

Four years ago on June 29, my life changed forever.

In one moment, everything I thought my future would look like was gone. But through that loss, I found something I never expected—purpose.

We spend so much of our lives focused on “there.” The five-year plan. The ten-year plan. The next milestone. But what I’ve learned is that life is happening now. Don’t wait to tell someone you love them. Don’t wait to spread kindness. Don’t wait to make a difference. Tomorrow is never promised.

Some of the greatest blessings in my life are the people who stood beside me when I couldn’t stand on my own. The ones who sat with me in the hospital, prayed for me, encouraged me, and never let me lose hope.
My circle may be smaller today, but it’s filled with the people who matter most. To each of you—thank you. You helped carry me through my darkest days, and I’ll never stop being grateful.

Today, I choose to smile. I choose gratitude. I choose purpose.

I’m honored to use my journey to serve others through the @py4foundation , and I’m incredibly excited for what’s ahead. If my story reminds even one person to love a little deeper, live a little fuller, or lend a helping hand, then every step of this journey has been worth it.

Thank you for believing in me. Thank you for walking beside me. Thank you for helping me turn one of the hardest moments of my life into a purpose that can help others. The best is still to come. 💙

One moment can change your life. What comes next can change the lives of others. 💙

Just ten days before my wedding, my life changed forever.

The past four years have challenged me in ways I never could have imagined. Through it all, my faith has carried me, reminding me that even in life’s most difficult moments, there is a greater purpose.

I had the honor of sharing my journey as a featured speaker at Raise the Bar Knoxville, reflecting on faith, resilience, and the power of finding purpose through adversity.

The evening was especially meaningful as I debuted my original song for the first time, sharing another deeply personal part of my journey through music.

I’m grateful to Raise the Bar Knoxville for the opportunity to share my story and be part of an evening filled with faith, connection, and inspiration.

💙🧡 Sometimes life calls for a change of plans, but never a change of purpose.

While we were looking forward to coming together for the 5th Annual 629 Open, Mother Nature had other plans.

Due to the impact of the hurricane, severe weather, and flooding on the golf course, we have made the difficult decision to postpone this year’s tournament.

A new date in December will be announced soon. ⛳

At the heart of the 629 Open is something far greater than golf. It’s about resilience, hope, community, and creating life-changing opportunities for individuals living with spinal cord injuries.

And if there’s one thing our mission continues to teach us, it’s that life doesn’t always go according to plan. What matters is how we move forward, together.
