You know what pisses me off about a lot of books... not just as a writer but also as a reader?

When a novel opens with backstory. Worldbuilding. The history of the seven kingdoms before anything actually happens.

Please don't. Start with what's going wrong. The worldbuilding can wait. The reader can't.

My challenge to you is go back through your draft. If more than one sentence in a row starts with the same name or pronoun, rewrite it. You'll force yourself to be creative and you'll be one step closer to your final draft.
