Piece Tres. The third piece, titled “Memories of T” encapsulates the nostalgia that the song reintroduces to the artist within each listening. Summer of 2024 is the main suggestion, which allows the artist to decorate a viewing experience that could only be built on by context that will fade as much as the memory that has been baked into this piece. Tyler’s words, melodies, hums, ad-libs, paired with Kali Uchi’s serene voice, gives light, enough so that the sky reflects this with rich yellows, and even richer oranges. The T, in question is allowed to be interpreted as Tyler, but the artist contains their own homage to a close friend that, in a way, served as influential to the artist, as much as Tyler has in ways, too many to be described, much less depicted within a single frame. Thank you Tyrone, for being a great friend and inspiration for my gay hb videos on instagram… I wished you could’ve been here to see them.

Piece Two of my Flower Boy Collection, school project turned exploration of artistic identity. Lots of paint, lots of oil, lots of energy, and most of all, lots of fun.
The second piece titled, “Humblebee, The Creator” picks through the overanalysis side of the music industry with the contorted combination of Tyler, The Creator, and a bumble bee, pairing these two elements of the song as a spectacle that serves a purpose that seems to bite its own tail. The artist highlights certain features of both a bee and Tyler, fusing facial features, and qualities of insects that blend in a eerie amalgamation of Tyler’s exploration of self within his larger work on “Flower Boy.” While the song “See You Again” doesn’t immediately note on Tyler’s sexuality other than references of falling for someone embodied under metaphor and wordplay that centers on human sensations, such as touch, taste, sight, hearing, and a tiny mention of smell, these human experiences that help build up the concepts of romance within a relationship sense, as well as the natural romance of life, viewers can attach meaning of their own perceived senses by staring deeply and even uncomfortably at one of the most sensitive beings on this planet: a bee. A bee’s purpose is to smell, feel, taste, hear and see things, like it’s clockwork. Pair that with Tyler’s sexuality being scrutinized, and made into talking points that were as invigoratingly uncomfortable for the genre of hiphop, as is looking at this creature of green and yellow. The artist invites the viewers to feel their own senses while looking at this piece, humor, disgust, uneasiness, happiness, etc. Tyler’s ear’s amongst all, helped craft the song in which the artist informed this piece, therefore the artist pays homage by granting Bee Tyler, ears that buzz as much as desired. The parental advisory sticker on his lips didn’t need to be explained further.

Painting One in my Flower Boy Series / Final Project for school.
Titled “Make It Last Forever” (50x32) Oil on canvas
Luckily finished post concussion, as well as pre confession, but let’s just say my hbs did not feel the same way....
Anywho, I hope you enjoy this piece within my larger body of work, soon to be posted as well...

Each painting in this series captures and articulates the feeling that the artist feels while listening to the song “See You Again ft. Kali Uchis” by Tyler, The Creator in his 2017 album “Flower Boy.” The first painting, titled Make it Last Forever” a nod to the chorus line sung by Kali Uchis, wants to invite viewers into the perspective of Robin’s sonic and visual experience while the melodies of the song permeate the outer atmosphere, presented by deep colorways of orange and red, with the intervention of buttery yellows and elements of the song’s subject matter, overlaying the “soft-launch swirls” that the artist aims to elevate within the contents of the painting itself. The form and lyrical content of the song live within the bees and the sunflowers as detail, yet the artist invites the viewers to evoke their own narrative of how the song plays out in visual form through a multitude of representations. Whether the facial expression of Robin’s portraiture evokes feelings of summertime bliss, or the mini Tyler riding his bee evokes a little humor and “aha moments”, whichever the audience intends to hone in on, the artist not only allows through their brushstroke and smearing of color, but with the the lyrical breakdown of the song itself, in the form of easter eggs and interpretation of this piece.
Much like the ambiguous nature of the song, tip-toeing through love ballads, a slice of RnB pie, or a hiphop masterclass of polarized vulnerability within a historically hyper masculine genre of music (RAP), the artist welcomes the viewers to engage with and form opinions of the content within a memory driven, sensation riveting, honey colored lens; that will in turn, “make it last forever.”

My second painting in my Flower Boy inspired collection: “Humblebee, The Creator” was definitely my favorite to paint because of the challenges I faced trying to combine Tyler and a bumblebee 🐝 without having it become overpowered. I like the juxtaposition of colors between my first painting and this one, as well as the focus on the face and Humblebee’s expression, or lack of, as you can see with the Parental Advisory Sticker acting as both a restriction as well as a connotation of what this portrait represents within hiphop. Painting Tres “All Things Must Pass and Fade” and Painting Quattro “All The Rich Park Wherever” little tongue in cheek, like a French kiss gone wrong/right?

I thoroughly enjoyed and feared this experience, in all truth, I bit off way more than I could chew. Admittedly, even I could tell at first glance, which one of the two I spent a little more time and effort on, to which I’ll add: “Your boy was on a time crunch and a half. He did his best, please validate him, otherwise he’ll cry…”
Woahhhhh bud, easy there….
Anywho, I’m grateful for the feedback from my classmates and the discussions we had about all of our pieces, both the plan air and the swatch paintings. I hope they enjoyed watching and informing themselves of all the good and bad from my brushstrokes, as much as I enjoyed making this and learning how to chew with my fingers. This was done pre-concussion, so I don’t remember what exactly my intentions were with these, other than to finish what I started, which I feel like I did.

So, fucc off Justin Bua, you’re the Jack Harlow of the art world, except Jack is self aware of his commodification of Black culture, you aren’t…

Still Life Oil Painting + Bunnyfish painting from week prior. *TRIGGER WARNING FOR THE LAST PICTURE**
I enjoyed learning new process and ways to blend all my colors together, as well as working in both rushed focus, and implementing much needed patience with each brush stroke and wave of the arm (my arms nearly fell off)
But with a SADE album, hope, 7-ish hours, and effortlessly excess Korean rage, I did it.
Thank you to those of you who believed in lil Pyo, I hope he made you pyoud (proud).
You’re welcome South Korea, you’ve been spared for now…. 🇰🇷🤬💥🪖⚠️
