Over the course of a weekend, Pyramid’s Print-O-Rama combines printmakers, rock n’ roll, and community for MUST SEE, MUST ATTEND events.

The weekend includes workshops, demos, music, an exhibition opening, and a print fair. Print-O-Rama will bring hundreds of people together for FUN FUN FUN while celebrating the possibilities of slingin’ ink.

Today we’re giving some love to LOCAL. ❤️

One of the things we fell hardest for after moving to Hyattsville was the incredible collection of independent businesses, artists, makers, nonprofits and gathering places that give this community so much of its personality.

These aren’t necessarily the “best” businesses in Hyattsville — we’d need about 47 slides for that. 😂 They’re simply some of the places and people that have become part of our Hyattsville.

We’ve remodeled our bathroom with them. Held a Santa Paws event with them. Played music in them. Celebrated with them. Made friends in them. Sponsored their events. And, yes, consumed a few adult beverages in them. 😂

And since we’re talking about local businesses, we’re including our own — 2 Rivers Team at Compass. One of the things that’s really important to us as a local business is putting some of that support right back into the community. That’s why you’ll find 2 Rivers sponsoring events like the Hyattsville Arts Festival, HyBall at Pyramid Atlantic, Print-O-Rama and the Hyattsville Zombie Run.

And, of course, we get to do the thing that brought our business here in the first place: sell some pretty fantastic Hyattsville houses. 🏡❤️

Because that’s really what we love about living AND working here: none of these things exist in separate little boxes.

Our clients become neighbors. Neighbors become friends. Local businesses become gathering places. And before you know it, a place you moved to has become home.

Waste is scary. Reuse is magic! First Friday: Horkus Forkus is coming to Community Forklift on Friday, October 2, and we’re getting ready for a free Halloween-themed community event full of good company, live music, food trucks, and a little reuse warehouse magic.

Come hang out from 5–8pm, grab a bite from @Catalyst_HotDogs or some Kona Ice, enjoy music from @RuganLewis, and have a drink from @DenizensBrewing. You can also get your face painted, make a friendly monster print with @PyramidAtlantic Art Center, or bring a costume to swap and get creative with @doee_dc ReThread DC. And, of course, the reuse warehouse will be open with special discounts on salvaged treasures.

Free and open to all. Food and drinks available for purchase, with alcohol for guests 21+. Come in costume, come as you are, bring a friend, and make a Friday night of it!

Did you know that maternal care deserts exist across the United States and that midwives often help fill critical gaps in care?

I recently watched a documentary about a midwife named Liz who was charged with 95 felony counts for practicing midwifery without a license, despite being a Certified Professional Midwife.

Her story stayed with me and inspired me to create this print in honor of the midwives who work tirelessly to care for mothers, babies, and families, especially in communities where access to maternal healthcare is limited.

With one exhibition, Helen C. Frederick commemorates two 10-year milestones. The first: Pyramid Atlantic’s 10th year in Hyattsville, the organization she founded in 1981. The second: the 10th anniversary of Reading Road Studio—a papermaking studio also founded by Frederick.
