I’m so proud to announce that I will be attending Morehouse School of Medicine with the Class of 2026 to pursue my Doctor of Medicine degree.

Ever since I could remember, I’ve wanted to become a doctor. But when I lost my mom a few months ago, I lost a huge part of me and my reason why. When I sat beside her hospital bed as she took her last breaths and transitioned, it felt like my purpose instantly shifted and honestly, I felt lost and alone. When I squeezed her hand, kissed her forehead, hugged her tight, and told her I loved her as her heartbeat slowly faded.. I lost hope. Despite all the hard work it took to get to this point, it felt like all the excitement and joy was snatched away because she wasn’t going to be here to enjoy it with me. How could I celebrate my biggest win when I just experienced my greatest loss? I’m still trying to figure it out but I do know she’s very proud of me. I know she’s smiling, with God, in Heaven, and her spirit guides me every step of the way. Her will to keep fighting, smiling, and trusting in God will forever live on in me. I am her legacy. When things feel impossible, there’s always a way.

2 MCAT’s, 2 application cycles, a post-bac, and a Masters later. I finally received 1 acceptance to my #1 choice medical school 2 days before laying my sweet angel to rest. I wish I could have shared the news with her but she saw it all unfold from above. God has an interesting way of doing things.

I’m celebrating this accomplishment with my all because only God knows the trials and tribulations it took to get here. I’ve experienced great loss, failure, rejection, and everything in between. I’ve prayed, cried, and prayed some more for this. May this small piece of my story inspire you to keep grinding, to never give up, or lose faith. I’m so thankful to my tribe. I couldn’t be happier to start this new chapter. We did it Mommy. Thank you God!

Signed, Dr. Breethebaddest

March 29, 2022: I experienced the worst pain I’ll ever feel in this lifetime and I’m forever broken. My whole entire world, gone. I lost my best friend, my confidant, my go-to, my voice of reason, my EVERYTHING, and the best thing that has ever happened to me.

It’s crazy how I can’t even put into words how beautiful of a person you were/are. How I’ve always wished to be a fraction of you. How one person could be so generous, kind, gentle, genuine, patient, successful yet humble and gracious, whilst sweet and hilarious and understanding and forgiving and hard working and so so strong. Entirely too good for Earth. But why God? I will never understand.

I feel at peace knowing that you knew how much I loved you, adored you, and looked up to you. I wouldn’t let you forget. I told you every second. You were the best human I’ve ever met. I’m blessed to have had 25 years to experience you. Your funny laugh, your quirky jokes, your bright smile, your words of wisdom, your home cooked meals (unmatched!), your dancing (needed some work lol), your gospel, your lessons, your prayers, your BIG heart, your encouragement, your beauty. I don’t have a single bad memory of you. You were all good, all the time. You made everyone feel loved. You touched the lives of each person you came into contact with and shined your beautiful bright light onto them. You gave and gave and gave. You poured into everyone. You were the glue. All my friends loved you because you treated them like your own. The superwoman you were, no one could ever amount to.

I’m thankful I could be with you from my very first heartbeat all the way until your very last. I’ll love you forever and after that. I’m lost right now and I’m not okay. I’ll never get over this. I still need you. I still yearn for your guidance and direction. I’ll never forget you, I’ll always miss you, and I’ll make you proud I promise. You’ll always live through me. I’ll always live for you. I’ll do everything I ever said I would do. Please watch over me, guide me, and protect me Mommy. May your soul Rest in Perfect Peace my angel, my blessing, my everythingšŸ•Šļø#LESLIESLEGACY by @pytbree

+1 šŸ¾ and 1/8th a doctor

Twenty five was hands down the most life changing year I’ve ever experienced. It changed my perspective of the world completely. At twenty five, I received the worst news of my life. At twenty five, I also received the best news of my life. Twenty five was confusing. It’s only by God’s grace I’ve had enough strength to see this new age. I’m so grateful for the people that have carried me through this past year on their backs. Y’all kept me alive and I’m happy to be here.

Today I am celebrating my first birthday without my mom, who also was my best friend, and only God knows how hard it is for me to find a real reason to celebrate. It’s hard to celebrate life without the one who gave me mine here beside me. But I know she would be the first to call me and give me a million reasons why I should— so I chose to use my white coat pictures to display how much there actually is to cheers to. I just finished my first semester of medical school with Honors. I am officially 1/8th a doctor and I’m so proud of myself for pushing through a year like this and coming out on top.

I pray that this new chapter brings nothing but peace, blessings, and light. I know it’s only up from here. God has blessed me with a guardian angel to guide my steps for the rest of my life and placed people around me who continue to show up for me, love on me, and pour into me through it all. I pray that He continues to cover me in these blessings. Remember to love on your people and hold them close #itsofficiallyBreecember <3 taken in Morehouse School of Medicine by @pytbree

Whew, I’ve officially completed my 3rd year of medical school and I’m finally entering my 4th and FINAL lap but first… I will be stepping into my Research Year era!

I am super excited to share that I will spending this next year conducting plastic surgery research with world renowned faculty in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at THE Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine as a Research Fellow! One step closer to my dream and I couldn’t feel more blessed. I prayed for this, wrote it down, and manifested it. The road is long, it’s challenging, but it’s not impossible and it’s definitely worth it.

Big cheers to never giving up and always having faith in the process! S/o to God and my guardian angel mommy for guiding me through each and every step along the way! Soon to be #DrBaddest šŸ’”šŸ§ šŸ©ŗšŸ”Ŗ by @pytbree

Officially 1/4th Dr. Breethebaddest 🧠

After 323 days, 21 exams, 40 quizzes, and 3830482 hours of sleep lost— I’ve finally completed my first year of medical school… and with flying colors. I am so proud of me and all I can really say is: thank you God. I am officially 25% a DOCTOR… wow.

I’m still in shock to be living out my wildest dreams and answered prayers. I’m so grateful to be here. I’m so blessed to have felt the warmth and guidance of my guardian angel every step of the way. I’m so thankful for my tribe. Where would I be without the love, support, encouragement, and prayers throughout this entire year? I’m forever indebted to my community for keeping me both grounded and uplifted.

This summer, I will be taking my talents to conduct cancer research with the National Institute of Health :) taken in Morehouse School of Medicine by @pytbree
