LOMBARDY
Italy

Located between the Alps and the Po River valley, Lombardy is famous for its diverse landscapes; industrial cities, medieval towns and recreation centers on the lake shores alternate with grass-covered slopes, lemon groves, farmlands, vineyards and rice plantations. Like a necklace, the sparkling lakes embellish the north of the region and are considered to be true natural treasures. Villas looking like wedding cakes hide among the multi-level gardens that decorate the cities and the villages along the coastline. Yet there is something that unites this versatile region – the lifestyle. Thus, Milan, the capital of Lombardy, is the center of Italy’s fashion and finance industry and is the country’s second biggest city after Rome. And in the valleys hidden from strangers’ eyes lives an ethnic people with their own ancient culture and language. These local people are gifted woodcarvers, making toys which are sold at the Christmas markets that take place in the cities and villages of the region. by @q8exe

IMAM SQUARE
Iran

When a French poet of the 16th century was describing the city of
Isfahan, he called it «a half the world». It would not be difficult to guess what inspired him to say so. The main square, Naqsh-e Jahan, which used to be the center of the ancient city, was a world of medieval architectural wonders. Since then the area has changed very little and still can impress anyone with its beauty. Here you can see one of the most amazing collections of buildings in the Islamic world. The current official name of Imam Square is rarely used in everyday life; the Iranians try to preserve the former greatness of this magnificent historical monument, even in its name. The square boasts the greatest architectural gems of the region: the incomparable Sheikh Lotf Allah Mosque and the Imam Mosque, the lavishly decorated Ali Qapu Palace and the Isfahan Grand Bazaar. Fountains were installed on the square during the last reconstruction, and you can still see on the opposite sides a sort of football goal, as the area served as a stadium for the game of polo 400 years ago. This is quite appropriate since the game is often depicted on the famous Iranian miniatures that can be bought here in souvenir shops. by @q8exe

WELLINGTON
New Zealand

If your trip to New Zealand has so far lied only through lonely landscapes and towns, go to Wellington to taste the life of a big city. Art-house cinemas, trendy bars, designer boutiques, live music bars and night coffee shops are waiting for you in Windy Wellington, as New Zealanders call their capital. Residents of Wellington are geographically isolated, that’s why they try to find inspiration in the city itself and this is constantly fueling the already boiling cultural life. The capital of New Zealand seems to have been able to find a balance between creative abundance and sensibility needed for the daily management of the country. This city is something between bohemian Amsterdam and stiff London. by @q8exe

KEUKENHOF GARDENS
Netherlands

For only two months of the year the Keukenhof Gardens, located between Harlem and Leiden in the grounds of Keukenhof Castle, turn into the most beautiful vista of blooming tulips, daffodils and hyacinths. The gardens stretch over many acres here, and the carpets of roses, orchids and lilac delight the eye in the greenhouses. Crowds of tourists rush here to photograph this many-colored floral rainbow and marvel at the achievement and genius of the selectors of the plants. A walk among these remarkable flowerbeds may take half a day, but one can never get tired of so much beauty. The gardens’ only drawback is that after visiting them the world outside seems dull and colorless. by @q8exe
