A Voice from Beneath the Mulberry Tree

Millions of people may have watched and listened to this beautiful nasheed on BBC World Radio…
But very few know that the young voice behind it belongs to one of our own students at the rural free school.
His name is Ehsanullah Jan, a second-grade student with a heart full of passion, hope, and talent.
This powerful performance was not recorded inside a modern classroom, nor in a studio filled with expensive equipment.
It was born beneath the shade of a mulberry tree, on dusty ground where children sit with dreams bigger than their circumstances.
We do not yet have proper classrooms, enough school supplies, or many basic facilities.
But what we do have is something stronger: determination, belief, and children who refuse to let poverty silence their talents.
From a place where there are no proper walls, no comfortable chairs, and very limited resources, this child delivered a nasheed that touched the hearts of tens of millions around the world.
This is proof that talent does not depend on luxury.
A child with hope, encouragement, and opportunity can shine brighter than anyone imagines.
Every child deserves a chance.
Every dream deserves support.
And every voice, no matter how small, deserves to be heard.

Please accept my apologies for the delayed greetings!

A few days ago, in the city of Lashkar Gah, the provincial capital of Helmand, my phone was snatched by motorcycle-riding thieves in an attack while it was unlocked and all its features and applications were accessible. As a result, my WhatsApp, Facebook, and other accounts were put at risk, and I lost access to them for several days.

Fortunately, I have now regained access to all my social media accounts, and they are once again active and under my control. by @qadirpasson

A Father’s Hope, A Child’s Future.

In this photograph, an elderly father waits with pride and hope to hear his son’s name called as he advances to the next grade at Passon Rural Free School.

In a place where poverty and hardship have stolen countless opportunities from children, we have chosen to stand firm and keep hope alive. Despite the challenges, we continue our struggle to bring free education to children in Afghanistan’s most remote and forgotten villages.

We are not just teaching children to read and write; we are giving families hope, restoring dignity, and building a future where every child has the chance to learn and dream.

Our journey is difficult, but our determination is stronger than the obstacles we face.

As long as there are children waiting for a chance to learn, our struggle will continue. Education is their right, and we will never give up on their future.

In our conversation with Radio Azadi, we shared the mission of Passon Rural Free School: bringing education to children in Afghanistan’s most remote villages, where opportunities are scarce and dreams are often left behind.

These rural children may come from poor and forgotten villages, but their dreams are as big as the world. ❤️

All they need is a fair chance to learn, grow, and discover their talents. With the right educational opportunities, these very children can become the pride of their homeland, achieve great things, and play a vital role in building a brighter future for Afghanistan.

Talent has no boundaries, and poverty should never be a barrier to education. Every child deserves the opportunity to shine.

Perhaps, the future doctor, engineer, teacher, or leader of Afghanistan is one of these children, standing here today with hope in their hearts and waiting for their classroom.
