📚 Win a free book in our Book Giveaway! 📚

To celebrate the start of a new academic year, the Library is giving away 6 brilliant books exploring themes of new beginnings, self-discovery and university life.

They are the kind of titles (along with lots of others) that feature in our Time Out Collection – books for you to read for fun - located at Mile End and Whitechapel Libraries and online!

To be in with a chance of winning a free book, all you need to do is follow our @qmullibrary Instagram account and like this post.

🚨 Don't forget to join a library tour or induction! 🚨

🗓️ Library tours and inductions are running every day next week (21 - 25 September) at Mile End Library, with tours also running at Whitechapel Library.

🌱 If you're new to Queen Mary, these sessions will help you get to know the library and how the Library Services team can support you during your studies.

The new Family Room at Mile End Library is now open 👐

This welcoming and inclusive space is designed to make it easier for staff and students with caring responsibilities to access the Library with their families.

Features include:
💫 Flexible access – the room is available for walk-in use, so you don’t need to book in advance
📅 Bookable study desks with Hub monitors – both desks can also be booked through LibCal when you need a dedicated workspace
🧸 Toys and learning resources – helping to create a welcoming and engaging environment for children
🚾 Family-friendly facilities nearby – including an accessible toilet with baby-changing facilities

The room is available for walk-in use during using Mile End Library opening hours.

The two study desks can also be booked through the Library’s online booking system if you would like to reserve a workspace.

Canalside will be closed from Monday 24 August through Friday 18 September 2026 so Residences can use the area for moving-in.

Good news — we’ll keep The Hive open 24/7 for that entire period (Monday 24 August–Friday 18 September 2026), so you’ll still have overnight space to study.
