qt studios has been so blessed to support incredible artists throughout the years.

since qt studios inception in 2021, our long time studiomate @ecntres has been jammin and experimenting in our space with his friend & collaborator @tomsmusicalwoods . after bringing in Aura, their third bandmate, into the mix, they formalized their project and birthed Queen of Cardboard.

this photo of @queenofcband was shot in our studio with our shared photo equipment 📸💡✨️

check out our website (link in bio) for more about our shared resources ⭐️

QT Studios teamed up with organizers, artists, and dreamers to envision collective and trans liberation at the histortical site of the Comptons Cafeteria Riot on the 59th anniversary in the Tenderloin District of San Francisco.

At the heart of this collective imagination was storytelling. QT Studios had the honor of holding down the Audio Dream Station, a space to uplift and amplify the voices of our queer, trans, and BIPOC community.

To learn more about the event, artist, performers, and the cross-movement alliance committed to removing GEO Group from Compton’s Cafeteria riot site and transitioning it to collective stewardship, please visit @ComptonsxCoalition

After the teach-ins, we will gather in the Project Space to collectively imagine an alternative future for 111 Taylor while listening to DJ DeAlma !

This expansive vision is meant to be grounded in a transecological approach: understanding the site as part of a living system and recognizing justice across movements, connecting the struggles that shaped Compton’s riot—policing, carcerality, poverty, racism, housing insecurity, and more.

At the Artbuild Dream Stations, facilitators will offer alternative media for the audience to express their ideas. Prompts will draw from our framework: engaging with the layered histories of the site while envisioning possibilities for a liberated future.

We have invited incredible facilitators to support participants in expressing their ideas:
Drawing Dream Station w/ Messy Beck
Audio Dream Station w/ QT Studios
Collage Dream Station w/ Dio Brooks and
Writing Dream Station w/ stevie redwood
(Bios in comments)

Artwork will be archived and featured in an exhibit for Compton’s 60th anniversary next year. Together, these creations will contribute to a collective vision for the site.

Join us!
When: Saturday, August 23
Time: Doors open at 4:30pm · Teach-ins start at 5pm
Where: CounterPulse, 80 Turk St.

Welcome to QT Studios! 🎸🎥 We’re a radical, inclusive space for queer/trans/BIPOC artists to create, collaborate, and disrupt the status quo. 💥✨

QT Studios offers a creative and experimental space equipped with the resources artists need to bring their visions to life. Our space provides shared access to photo, video, and sound equipment, enabling artists to produce high-quality work without the financial burden of purchasing costly tools. More than just a studio, QT Studios is a community built on radical, anti-capitalist, and anti-imperial values, advocating for the voices of queer, trans, and BIPOC artists in entertainment and the arts.

We're also lucky to be located across the street from the historic site of the 1966 Compton's Cafeteria Riot and this past weekend's celebration of Trans Day of Visibility (TDOV) Trans Fest ☆ (scroll for pics!)
