Step into the world of Ken Hirsch — founder of Orphan Audio, and the man behind two of Hollywood’s most legendary console brands: Quad Eight and Electrodyne. In the 1960s, these consoles and playback systems defined the sound of cinema, celebrated for their extraordinary fidelity and headroom. To this day, Ken tends to that legacy from a workshop filled with channel strips, consoles, and stories that deserve to be heard.

Quad Eight has now been updated to version 1.1.0

Its time to reveal the laserbeams a.k.a the meterbridge 😁 even those parts are modular! 🤯 the whole cassette
contains 60 small lights for exact metering. You can take them easily in and out for maintenance.

After a load of questions about my Mitsubishi Quad Eight Westar tracking console i show you why i love this type of consoles. Thats because its modular. If i want to do some maintenance i can take out the channelstrip and even take out the eq and mic preamp modules. All i can say is that it makes the maintenance a lot easier 🙌🏼

Channelstrip layout.
The channelstrip starts with the bus routing and the option to choose mic or line input and if you want to use it as a direct output module (thats what i want).
Next is the mic preamp section. You can hookup 2 microphones and switch between them with the B button. It also hase a phantom power and PAD switch to lower a hot signal.

Beneath it is the Aux section that doesnt work in my case (the console is chopped from a larger format console)

Then comes the Eq module section and beneath that is the Filter section for highpass and lowpass and a small monitor section.

Just replaced the old fader caps on my Mitsubishi quad Eight Westar with shiny new metal ones. The old ones were yellowed and busted. Now it looks fresh and feels great to vibe out to some beats 🙌🏼
