Though there’s no tie-in with the @thebridemovie, apropos of its launch I’ve been thinking about recording an audio version of my 2023 essay about the life of Elsa Lanchester in this terrific literary companion to the OG #BrideofFrankenstein film. Right? Yeah!

And I WISH there was an audio version of Elsa’s entire 1983 memoir, but at least we have @chireviewpress excellent reprint (with new foreword by @marawilson, whom of course I’d nominate to read the audiobook) to gather up the iconic actress’s late-in-life recollections for anyone who surrenders to be dazzled by them.

The current hooplah surrounding The Bride is extremely exciting. This figure is more than any one film, or author, or director, or actress, or aesthetic. The further we skid into the future, the more inroads we find into her story. There’s never been a stronger pull toward monstrous, disobedient, vengeful feminine archetypes. Every single one of them deserves her moment in the spotlight.

That zombie skinsuit reveal was unreal! 😱
