Hello all! I figured I would take the first post to introduce you to me/us on this new page!

✨ I'm Rebecca and I named this account after one of my cats, Leslie who has many nicknames but one is Bean. Leslie has a brother, Jorah, and a sister, Freya.
✨ I found my way back to reading just before the pandemic hit in late 2019/early 2020. Right as I found my groove, lockdown happened and my access to books was basically cut off (I wasn't e-reading yet and didn't own many at that time).
✨ Thanks to Book Tok, I started regularly reading again in 2022. Today actually marks reading a page every day for 2 years straight!
✨ I read mostly fantasy, contemporary romance, sci-fi, and "weird girl lit".
✨ Other than reading I enjoy rock climbing, creating all kinds of art, sending postcards all over the world, and spending time with my friends and family.

I'm excited to be able to have a space to share what I'm reading, taking in others' content, and finding community within this space! Thanks for being here 🩷

Yesterday marked me reading at least one page a day for 1000 days in a row 🤯 I love a stat so it was so funny to track it using @the.storygraph (not an ad lol just my favorite book app!) That equals 342 books and 113,409 pages!! I read every day for 2.75 years!!! That's nuts. Falling back into reading has been one of life's greatest gifts to me and it's been so fun to meet others who also love reading! Thanks for being along to witness this fun journey!

📚Book Review: Vengeful, 4.5 ⭐📚 book 2, complete! This reread was also fabulous, though I was reminded why this didn't feel 5 star to me then, or now. My one and only critique is that the amount of timeline skipping and introduction of new characters makes the story a little more stop and go for me and sometimes I feel like loose threads exist. I still find this one to be addicting though, I mean I read almost 300 pages of it yesterday 😅 this book is especially good now knowing there's a 3rd one coming! Only a little over a week less until Victorious and I couldn't be more excited !

It's Caturday and a special one here in our household because apparently we're experiencing/going to experience a nor'easter! As someone who lived here their entire life, I thought nor'easter meant snow, so color me shocked when I heard one was happening at the end of September 😅 nope, not necessarily, just a lot of wind and rain? Whatever it is, it's a perfect excuse to be inside and read all day!

Happy Friday!! Here is my unintentional performative Instagram post, I had all intentions of going in and reading but the ways in which people placed themselves at tables meant I'd be sitting on top of someone else 😅 so I thought, no biggie! I'll sit outside! Okay well outside turned out to be very cold and with a man trying to maintain conversation with me......so I snapped these pics, read one page, and bounced 😂

Jorah wishes you all a happy Wednesday, we're halfway through the week! He said he's willing to help people solve their puzzles and read too but he has to be allowed to be physically on top of the book and won't compromise. I'd say it's worth it 😂

📚Book Review: Vicious, 5⭐!📚 Shock and awe everyone, my reread was so wonderful! I read Vicious back in 2024 because it was on KU and I figured, what the hell. I had seen it described to me as "super heroes and villains" and to be honest, that didn't appeal to me whatsoever. If that's the case for you too, please throw that description out the window because it is so much more! I absolutely love the cat and mouse plot structure, that every single chapter leaves you on this edge of your seat and wanting to know more so you just have to turn the page. The characters are so wonderful and I love them even though most are questionable at best. This may be controversial but from the work of Schwab I've read so far, this is my absolute favorite. It is so addictive and I can't wait to start the next. My reread of Vicious may have secured it as one of my top favorite books, it was that much fun!!

I gave the book to Bean to review and after some deliberation, she has given the book a head bump of approval, so you know it's good!!

I got movin' and groovin' on Saturday after I did some errands and walked on a local bike trail. I was so thankful that there was a bench not too far along the way because I thought I could have gone a little longer without my feet hurting! I have mastered the art of walking and reading which is great because I read about 25 pages of Vicious. I know I haven't shut up about this reread but I mean....can you blame me?

📚Book Review: Dead Beat, 4.75 ⭐📚 "Healing is the most transgressive magic because it denies death." -Pamela Dawes

Ya girl has been WAITING (as all of us have been) and boy did the final book in this trilogy DELIVER!!! I love, love, loved being back with our group of characters to figure out how the "hell" they were going to clean up this mess. I love when a book has an incredible main character but also the other ones are just as, if not more enjoyable (shout out to Tripp for always making me laugh out loud).

Ninth House holds a special place in my heart because it showed me as an adult that hey, maybe I do like reading fantasy stories! I am so glad a book I was looking forward to for years came through!

Although I've never been to Harkness Tower (IYKYK), here are some pictures of me at the absolutely stunning Harkness Memorial State Park in CT in 2020, and we'll just pretend it's the same.

📚Book Review: Welcome to the Kokoro Cat Clinic, 3.5 ⭐📚 This was another wonderful installment in the "We'll Prescribe You A Cat" universe. I'm always going to be excited for a book about the healing power of cats! We follow four separate stories of folks struggling with their mental health and how the integration of a cat (or cat like traits) could help them heal. Welcome to the Kokoro Cat Clinic follows the same story pattern as its predecessors and it can be comforting to fall back into this. I do think that these stories felt a bit more disconnected to me at times and I think the lessons were a little less clear to me than in previous iterations, but that could be a me issue and/or something to do with translated works.
