October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. 💜

Earlier this week, I had the opportunity to step away from my desk to support Diamond Diva Empowerment Foundation by assembling Love Packages filled with personal hygiene products for survivors. These packages help provide everyday essentials to individuals navigating difficult circumstances, and I’m grateful to play a small part in supporting their work.

As someone who values service, I love that my career provides opportunities like these to give back to the community.

Shoutout to my colleague @tyllercathey for coordinating a wonderful project! by @queenbelleplew

Today was Monroe County’s Walk for Hope, a community event dedicated to suicide prevention and mental health awareness. I’ve participated in this walk every year, and while it’s an important reminder that we need to keep talking, keep showing up and keep breaking the stigma around mental health, it never gets easier.

It’s hard to walk alongside so many people who have been affected by suicide and not wonder about their stories, the people they miss and the moments that brought them here. Every person walking today had a reason for being there, and that thought is something I don’t take lightly.

I wish we didn’t have to come together for something like this. I wish fewer families knew this kind of heartbreak. But we do. And if continuing to talk about suicide, share our stories and remind people that asking for help is not a weakness can help even one person choose to stay, I’ll always show up.

For my grandpa, and for all the people we wish were still here. 💛 by @queenbelleplew

As part of STEM Week at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, I had the opportunity to help bring Animal Science Day to life for pediatric patients and their families.

The day included both education and fun, from pet-themed crafts, activities and goodies for patients and their siblings to pet trivia led by our Purina experts through the hospital’s CCTV system, allowing kids to participate right from their rooms.

I’m so grateful to have brought a little joy and normalcy to kids and their families during difficult times. 🤍 by @queenbelleplew

September is Suicide Prevention Month.

My heart is heavy as I look at one of the last pictures I took with my grandpa Rodney before he died by suicide.

I wish he would’ve known that asking for help wasn’t a sign of weakness. I wish he would’ve known that things can truly get better. I wish he would’ve known just how many people loved him and how deeply we would mourn having to live without him.

I believe we’re called to use our stories to help others, and that’s why I will never stop telling your story, Grandpa.

Nearly 48,000 Americans die by suicide each year, and it’s my goal to help make that number decrease by promoting resources, encouraging honest conversations and helping eliminate the stigma that keeps so many people from asking for help. Men are nearly four times more likely than women to die by suicide, and one reason is that too many still feel like they have to carry their struggles alone.

So my message to anyone reading this is:
Please ask for help. Please check on your people. Please stay.

You do not have to have the right words. You do not have to have everything figured out. And you do not have to face what you’re going through alone. Asking for help is not weakness — it is one of the strongest things you can do.

Your story isn’t over. There is still hope, even when you can’t see it yet.

If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Help is available 24/7. by @queenbelleplew

Earlier this year, I was invited to join the Monroe County Fair Queen Pageant Committee, and I was absolutely over the moon for the opportunity to give back to a program that played such a huge role in making me who I am today. 🤍

When I was 17, I competed in the Monroe County Fair Queen Pageant - my very first pageant. I had no idea at the time just how much saying “yes” to that ad in the paper would change my life. It opened the door to the world of pageantry and ultimately helped me realize that I wanted to build a career around being a communicator and brand ambassador.

I had the opportunity to work with 10 Little Miss contestants and 5 Queen contestants, helping them with stage presence, walking, speeches, confidence, and everything in between. Watching each of the girls confidence grow from our first practice to the final night was my absolute favorite part of this experience. I’m so proud of every one of them for being brave enough to say yes to something new and give themselves the opportunity to learn, grow, and step outside of their comfort zones.

I truly believe pageantry can give young women so much more than a crown, and I know that firsthand. Getting to help give these girls even a little piece of what this program gave me was such a full-circle moment. 🤍

Forever grateful to the Monroe County Fair Queen Pageant for being where my pageant journey began, and now, for letting me be a small part of someone else’s beginning. 👑✨ by @queenbelleplew

As someone who spends most of the week behind a computer screen, I’ve realized I have to be intentional about stepping away to recharge every once in a while.

Recently for me, that has looked like finding a hiking trail, putting my phone away and appreciating God’s creation. Taking care of your mental health can look like resting, talking to someone you trust, spending time in nature or participating in your favorite hobby. However it looks for you, I hope you find time to take care of yourself this week.

‼️ Mental health matters everywhere. If you or someone you know is struggling, help is always available by calling or texting 988. 🤍 by @queenbelleplew

People always ask what I do in Community Affairs, and days like these are my favorite answer!

I traded my cubicle for the classroom to help facilitate a program with the Boys & Girls Club, where we taught kids how to safely interact with dogs before they each got to adopt a stuffed puppy of their own. Each kiddo named their pup (my personal favorite was Miss Sparkles) and completed an official adoption certificate before taking their new furry friend home. Getting to connect with the community is one of the best parts of what I do! ❤️ by @queenbelleplew
