DESERT DOLLS by @queenchiw

where two or three are gathered 🌵🏜️

“A voice of one calling: ‘In the wilderness prepare the way for the Lord make straight in the desert
a highway for our God.’ Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain. And the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all people will see it together. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.” Isaiah 40:3-5

in august, my sisters and I took a much needed trip to the desert with a single objective: to encounter Jesus

we fasted for three days prior in expectation that God would prepare the way for us

the entire weekend was a gracious reminder that the cup of joy can coexist with the cup of suffering. we shared deep cries, laughs, endless prayers, and hours and hours of singing and dancing to worship

we became the embodiment of Matthew 18:20 that “Where two or three gather in [His] name, there [He] is with them”. it was a reaffirmation that the love of God is what brings the three of us together.

in the same way that Christ made a way in the desert for the Israelites, kept them clothed, fed, and gave them water and manna for 40 years and led them to the promise land, we left reminded that when we surrender our worries to God, He will do the same thing.
