I’ve had a few days for it to sink in, and it is starting to feel real. On June 2nd, 2022 I became an Ordained Pastor in the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel.

“But, Merrick,” you may be asking, “You’ve been a licensed pastor since 2018.” You’re right! Ordination in our movement means that there is a recognized life-long calling to ministry on my life. It’s a big deal, a serious responsibility and the realization of a childhood dream.

I was ordained at our #Foursquareconnection event in Orlando (some of you know that detail was like an extra present from God), surrounded by and prayed over by some of my most favorite people in the whole world. And bonus, @m4rri was right next to me getting the same honor!

What’s one thing you definitely shouldn’t forget to do on your next Disney cruise? 🚢✨

I fell HARD for Disney Cruise Line on my sailing this summer, and I think you will too!

If you think there’s even a chance you’ll want to cruise with Disney again someday, go ahead and book that placeholder while you’re onboard. It keeps your options open, can save you some money on a future sailing, and gives you time to decide where you want to go next.

This was fun! I asked the interweb overlords to make me a sidekick and I got a raccoon. I mean, it tracks. 😂

Meet Moxie Mae 🦝✨Making magic out of mayhem.

Honestly, I feel like she might be the most accurate representation of my personality I’ve ever seen.

A little travel obsessed, fueled by caffeine, thrifting and ADHD gummies, always dreaming up the next adventure, probably carrying too much stuff (I have impeccable girl grip), somehow juggling 47 things at once and constantly looking for the magic in the middle of the mess.

Travel has become such a fun part of my story, but ministry is the thread that runs through all of it. Whether I’m helping someone plan a once-in-a-lifetime trip, encouraging someone in their faith, speaking life into a woman who needs it, or just showing up for the people God has put in my path, I want to make room for a little more joy, wonder, and magic.

And maybe there’s a little God wink in the raccoon of it all. 😂 Raccoons don’t waste much, and neither does God. He can take even the messy, leftover pieces of our pain and struggles and use them for something good.

If waking up to the ocean outside your balcony counts as camping, then sign me up. ✨🚢 From the Caribbean to Europe, Mexico to Alaska, Disney Cruise Line makes the journey part of the magic.

Because there are a lot of ways to vacation… but waking up on a Disney ship is one of my favorites. 🩵

Getting some work done this morning at my new favorite coffee shop @walletandwatchcoffeecompany before heading to Ordinary Moms Club at @yakimafoursquarechurch . ☕️
Our podcast topic this week is “Overcoming Overwhelm,” and it really hit home for me.
I’m learning how much it helps to intentionally create space to focus. A coffee shop, a set amount of time, some homework, quotes to work on, and client messages to answer, instead of sitting at home with the chores staring me in the face. 😂
Being intentional with my time helps me show up better for my clients and fellow agents, and I’m finding that sometimes a little change of scenery is exactly what I need.

Any other Kindergarten moms feel me?

Can I be brutally honest? We are in week 3 and I am absolutely floundering. Out of the loop, knowing no one in our grade, and turned down when I asked to get more involved. I’m trying everything I know how to do to set BroBeans up for success, but I can’t seem to get my foot in the door. I hate feeling like an outsider and I really miss his preschool.

Got a message in the parent app tonight at 7:05 that tomorrow is a themed clothing day. Polka dots. I have plenty. The boy? Not so much. So we dig for an undershirt and bust out the Cricut.

My sweet boy says, “Make it whatever color you have, mama… Wait, make it blue because the day after today blue will be my favorite color.” So blue it is. 💙

And tonight, I’m still floundering. Still feeling like an outsider. Still trying to figure out how to do this whole Kindergarten thing. But at least tomorrow, my boy will have his polka dots. taken in Yakima, Washington by @queenkingman

Took a break from prepping for Corey’s local author event and went to the West Valley football game tonight. Took a little trip to the visitors’ side and saw @mamatawn08 and @cerise_mae 🥹 It’s been 25 years since I’ve been at a football game with either of these beauties. Getting to hug them both was such a treat. 3 Lions cheering for the Braves and the Rams. 🩵❤️💛 We won’t mention that they both have seniors this year. 🫣

And true to form, I still know shockingly little about sportsball outside of hockey or baseball. My cheers consisted of “Do good things!” “Go! Go! Go!” “Mazel!” and “Don’t get hurt!” 😂

I was 18. My first week of college classes was about to start. I woke up to a call from my mom. As soon as I heard, I knew our world was changed.

25 years later, we remember.

We remember the lives lost, the families and communities and our country forever changed, and the countless heroes who ran toward danger while everyone else was running away.

We will never forget the courage, the sacrifice, or the 2,977 lives behind the numbers. May their memory always be a blessing.
