[MINI VLOG] ✨ Just under two weeks ago, Hlanganani opened at @galerieronmandos in Amsterdam, and I had the incredible opportunity to co-curate the exhibition alongside @larsbeen.

Hlanganani, meaning “unite” in isiZulu, celebrates 20 years of Faces and Phases, while also reflecting on 30 years of South Africa’s Constitution and the ongoing journey towards equality, freedom and visibility.

Thank you to @muholizanele and @ronmandos for trusting me with this opportunity, and Thank you to @larsbeen, for your patience, guidance and collaboration throughout the process.

What a meaningful learning experience this has been and one I’m incredibly grateful to have been part of. 🙏🏽

If you are in Amsterdam go check out the exhibit, which is on until 1 November. taken in Galerie Ron Mandos by @queenluffie

Thank you to everyone that helped bring “Khululekani” to life ✨ I’m so grateful.

Last week, we celebrated 20 years of Faces and Phases by @muholizanele at @southernguildgallery.

A highlight of the evening was the launch of the very first volume of MAI Times. I’m incredibly grateful to Prof for trusting me to produce the publication. Creating a newspaper in just one week was no small feat, but I have an amazing team and we made it happen.

Many people have been asking what I do at @rxradiosa, so I thought I’d show.

@rxradiosa is a children’s radio station made for kids, by kids, broadcasting from the Red Cross Children’s Hospital.

Of the many hats I wear, this job is particularly special. The children are my bosses, I simply do what they tell me.

Once a month, on a Saturday, they take to the airwaves, and I help produce the broadcast with an amazing team. Working alongside these young broadcasters is a privilege, and every month they continue to impress me with their talent.

Follow and support the incredible work being done at @rxradiosa 💕

50 years since June 16, 1976.

This year, I found myself in Soweto for a PhotoWalk. Two of my favourite things in one word. For the theme of the photowalk, @ituthegod asked: ”What has changed and what hasn’t changed in Soweto since 1976?”

My answer was simple. What has changed? We are free. What hasn’t changed? The debt to women and the girl child is still unpaid. They were at the forefront of the struggle. They still hold communities together today, quietly and without enough credit.

Being in that part of Soweto for the first time felt like standing inside history. A reminder of how far we’ve come, and how much further we still have to go.

Thank you Hermina Leroke. Martha Matthews. Antoinette Sithole. Nozipho Joyce Diseko. Connie Mofokeng. Sophie Tema and all the Queens in the revolution ✊🏽.

When @muholizanele said they were going to exhibit in an apartment I did not believe them… until I actually saw it myself.

To walk into a warm, intimate space filled with over 200 portraits staring back at you was something else entirely.

Zanele Muholi’s off-site exhibition of the Faces and Phases series, installed inside a private residence in Castello, Venice, honoured 20 years of this defining body of work. The exhibition also celebrated Muholi as a Hasselblad Foundation Award Laureate, and stood as a true highlight of the Venice Biennale week.

With gratitude to the @muholiart_institute team, @southernguildgallery for a beautiful opening, and @_lindseyraymond for holding it all together so effortlessly. taken in Venice, Italy by @queenluffie
