Yikes, I gotta start taking more pictures. Met some incredible Shakespeare nerds this fall, and wrapped up my first semester of grad school by understudying A Christmas Carol — and through that, getting to make my debut on the @americanshakespearecenter stage for 7 shows! Soooooooo life update, I’m going back to school! This fall, I’ll start pursuing my MLitt/MFA at Mary Baldwin University’s Shakespeare and Performance program, in partnership with the American Shakespeare Center. (literally screeeaaaaming)
When I auditioned for Mary Baldwin this winter, it felt like a pipe dream. Oh sure, I’m gonna go back to school and get a Shakespeare degree, it’s not like loving Shakespeare is a defining personality trait of mine or anything.
But if my 2025 has taught me anything, it’s that I am hungry for more. There is more ladder to climb, more potential untapped… and I’m long overdue for an adventure.

It isn’t accurate to say that I will miss John Wesley Powell - the real man hasn’t earned the right to that sentimentality - but I will most certainly miss Jaclyn Backhaus’ incarnation of these titular Men on Boats. Their faults, their spotlight on the darkness in American culture, their masculinity and femininity combined into something truly unique to the theater. I am so proud to have been a part of this ensemble. May our work forever center femme and non-binary artistry, because that is when it is most worth doing.
