Time to kick off the October book stacks! October’s birthstones are opal and tourmaline, and I went with the easier one. Pink tourmaline seemed to be the one most people pictured, so here’s a pink book stack. 💗

I’m also kind of tempted to do more Halloween-themed stacks this month… we’ll see if I actually get around to it. 🎃

Here are the books I’ll be choosing my physical reads from this October. I was convinced to finally start The Dark Tower series, even though it isn’t exactly spooky, so we’ll see how far I make it.

I’m also hoping to finally read The Poison Daughter by Sheila Masterson and Migrant Heart by Reyna Grande. Thank you to @primerosuenopress for sending me Migrant Heart. I’m really hoping I can finally get to it this month.

The rest of the stack should fit the October mood a little better. Here’s to cozy reading, spooky vibes, and hopefully crossing a few of these off my TBR! 🎃📚

Some of my September reads! Some I read physically, some I listened to, and some I enjoyed through immersive reading.

Missing from this stack are The Lion Women of Tehran and Threshing Day. Both were amazing in their own ways, and I highly recommend them.

Styx: The River by Nikita Gill had absolutely gorgeous sprayed edges and was another incredible read. I loved diving back into mythology and female rage.

For October, I’m hoping to add a lot more horror to my reading stack. 👻📚

This book wrecked me… and I couldn’t stop reading. Except around page 167, when I had to take a break. I knew that part was going to be heartbreaking. Loved to read more about that character but I was crying after 😭

I loved the artwork, and the spoiler warnings were such a thoughtful touch for anyone just starting the series.

The bond between dragons and their riders is everything. They know every part of you and still choose you. That’s the kind of bond I could only dream of.

I love this series so much. 💜

I’m not even done with my Baldur’s Gate 3 playthrough, and the book is already here. 😭

Reader-gamers, how do you have time for all of this? Between trying to finish BG3 and my never-ending TBR, I feel like I need about three extra lives.

I can’t wait to read this! T. Kingfisher is such a fantastic author, and I already know I’m going to love this book… whenever I actually find the time to read it.

Who thought releasing a T. Kingfisher book while I’m still emotionally trapped in Faerûn was a good idea? Ugh. 😂

How are all my fellow reader-gamers surviving a day like this? Because apparently the universe forgot to ask if I had plans before scheduling me for adulting. 😒😂

I had a very important agenda today: read books, play games, and pretend my responsibilities don’t exist. But somehow laundry, chores, and real life have invaded my Threshing Day. Rude. Absolutely unacceptable. 😭📚🎮

Happy Threshing Day to everyone… except me! 🥲

I’ve been seeing how Zon has been delivering books early all week, and somehow I still have no idea when mine will arrive. It’s fine. I’m fine. 😭

Happy reading to everyone who already has their copy! 💜

The Dark Tower series by Stephen King.

This has to be the most unaesthetic series on my shelves. 😂 Now that all my books are finally unpacked, I can really see how wonderfully mismatched my collection is.

Should I finally read this now that it’s October? Are there any Dark Tower fans who can vouch for it as a great spooky season read?

Walked into a Swedish candy shop for Swedish candy… and walked out with Finnish candy too. 🇫🇮😂 As a Finn, that felt like winning the candy lottery!

Of course, I also had to get this Fourth Wing crochet kit because apparently my bookish self-control doesn’t exist. 🫣 I already opened it and started making Andarna. 🐉💜 Hopefully she turns out cute and not like a tiny dragon who got lost on the way to Basgiath. 😂

Currently listening to The God of the Woods while repotting some new plants. 🌿📚

I used to have such an amazing plant collection, and after the move, I have to start all over again. It’s a little bittersweet, but I’m excited to watch these new ones grow. Hopefully, in a few years, I’ll have another jungle filling my home. 🌱

And this book… it’s getting so interesting. 👀🧐 Have you read The God of the Woods yet?

Book review📚
The Lion Women of Tehran by Marjan Kamali

Historical fiction has always been my comfort genre. I read a little bit of everything, but there’s something special about stories that let me experience another place, another time, and the lives of people I may never have known otherwise. Those are the books that stay with me.

The Lion Women of Tehran completely captured my heart. I fell in love with the friendship between the women and found myself rooting for them through every chapter. Their bond felt so real, and watching it evolve against the backdrop of Iran’s history made the story even more powerful. I laughed, my heart ached, and I had so many moments where I just had to pause and take everything in.

This is why I love historical fiction. It reminds me that behind every historical event are real people, relationships, dreams, and heartbreak. Marjan Kamali brought that to life so beautifully.

If you’re looking for a historical fiction novel with unforgettable characters, a moving friendship, and a story that will stay with you long after you turn the final page, I can’t recommend this one enough.

Thank you again, @thechaptercuddler , for sending me this beautiful annotated copy. I loved experiencing this story alongside your annotations. It made an already special read feel even more personal.

Now tell me what’s your favorite historical fiction novel? I’d love to fill my TBR with your recommendations, so share your favorites in the comments! 💜
