From October 4th until November 17th, the James Wise Gallery will house the Living Apart: Redlining exhibition!

EXHIBITION RECEPTION: October 27th, 2023 5-8 pm

Living Apart: Redlining is a traveling exhibition that uses maps, photographs, and personal accounts to trace the ongoing impacts of our country's long history of housing discrimination.

This unique multi-media exhibition was created by Dr. Johnny Finn, who is an associate professor at CNU.

It was also made possible thanks to the support of NSU's Fine Art faculty and students, Dr. Newby-Alexander, NSU's EJ Incubator, and the Center for African American Public Policy (CAAmPP).

Went to the opening of @rayjohnsonart’s exhibit and it was Dope AF. Congratulations on your solo exhibit. The Offsite Gallery space is perfect for your work and I think everybody should stop by as soon as possible. by @queensandcanvas

I created this Story Shield for Mrs. Lourdes Parker, a board member at @gloucesterarts.

She had a beautiful collection of priceless items that she’s saved for years. She brought them with her when she came to my workshop and asked me to put it together for her.

The items included a vintage piece of black lace, a silk handkerchief, a linen handkerchief, a black necklace, a yellow crochet flower, a butterfly pin and a bright green bracelet. Each item holds a special place in her heart.

The concept came easily, but I was scared-as-a-mug to cut into these priceless items. Once I finally got over my hesitation, the ideas flowed and I really enjoyed creating it.

This feels like a new evolution into how I want to create my work going forward.

I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next.

Earth Day fun with my NSU peeps. Thank you, Matt, for the photos! by @queensandcanvas

Hanging out with the good folks at NSU to celebrate Earth Day. We walked away with custom t-shirts and plants that we have to keep alive. 🪴 by @queensandcanvas
