This Black History Month, we’re celebrating the incredible Black LGBTQ+ people who have helped shape our community, our culture, our music and our nightlife.

You will see regular posts from us during the month explaining who they are and what they have all done for us in the community🖤🏳️‍🌈

We would like to start with the marvellous Marsha P. Johnson a Black LGBTQ+ activist and one of the most recognised figures in the fight for LGBTQ+ liberation.

Marsha was a prominent part of New Yorks queer community, involved in the uprising around Stonewall and later worked alongside Sylvia Rivera to support homeless and vulnerable LGBTQ+ young people.

For us at Queenshilling, her story means something.

LGBTQ+ venues have always been more than somewhere to have a drink or a dance. They are places where people can meet, express themselves, find their community and feel that they belong.

The freedoms and spaces our community has today exist because generations before us stood up, refused to hide and fought to be seen.

As one of Bristol’s LGBTQ+ venues, we’re proud to keep providing a space where our community can come together.

🎃🏳️‍🌈 GAY CHRISTMAS IS ALMOST HERE! 🏳️‍🌈🎃

And you KNOW Queenshilling does Halloween like no other. 👑

This year we’re giving you FOUR DAYS OF HALLOQUEEN — four nights of costumes, chaos, drag, karaoke and proper LGBTQIA+ nightlife. 🔥

🎤 Halloween Karaoke — grab the mic and murder your favourite songs… in the best possible way.

😈 Halloqueen Thursday — the fabulous Jam Tart takes over, with games, competitions and prizes up for grabs! Come dressed to impress because we want to see your BEST Halloween looks. 👀

👑 Mayhem Drag Show — multiple incredible performers, big shows and plenty of Mayhem.

🎃 HALLOWEEN NIGHT — and Halloween actually falls on a Saturday this year! We’re taking full advantage and keeping you dancing into the early hours with huge Halloween bangers, club anthems and absolute chaos.

Four days. One Queenshilling. One massive Halloqueen.

Bristol… get your costumes ready. 👻🏳️‍🌈
