🥭Big news!!! Queer Mango is back! 🧿 We will be vending at Oakland Bloom’s 4th Annual Holiday Market on Dec. 14th, from 3-7 PM at @otk_eats and we’re introducing our new Deewani Biryani and Mazaydaar Achaari Spice Blends! We’ll have these spice packets available for $7 each or 2 for $12 (and stay tuned for an online ordering option if you’re not in the Bay Area!).

@oaklandbloom's market’s theme, “We Got Us!”, is a powerful reminder of how we want to practice community, especially during hard times. We feel called to share the recipes and stories enjoyed by our collective. These flavors hold ancestral memory as well as stories of enjoying these flavors at queer gatherings. 10% of all earnings from these products go to mutual aid.

🔮 QUEER MANGO SUPPER CLUB 🔮
Join us for a night of ancestral healing & wellness on Tuesday 18th April, 6:30 - 8:30pm on Ohlone land! (so-called Oakland: Fruitvale / San Antonio)

Our healing offering for the night is a workshop "Ramadan Rituals as Resistance and Self-Recovery" by the lovely Shenaaz, followed by a South Indian Iftar with a Bangali twist and herbal bliss by the mythical @gqember5

LGBTQIA+ Muslims experience of ongoing erasure is compounded during the month of Ramzan/Ramadan, when community collective practices and gatherings are heightened, and the pain, push-out and placelessness in the name of quee-, and transphobia is starkly felt. Through organizing our own spaces, queer, trans and nonbinary Muslims actively interrupt this erasure, through creating new rituals, embodying a self-determined Muslim experience, and ultimately building towards the recovery of selves.

This workshop / discussion will engage in ways we share, create and adorn ourselves the power to be in ritual, share in ritual and dream in rituals.

Plantain Kura-Plantain in a dry mustard chili ginger seasoning

🔮 QUEER MANGO SUPPER CLUB 🔮
Come join us for a night of ancestral food and wellness next Thursday 23rd February, 6-8pm in Ohlone land! (so-called Oakland: Fruitvale / San Antonio)

Our healing offering for the night is a poetry workshop "You Are Who I Love: Writing Towards Collective Healing" by the lovely @sjghaus, followed by a wholesome vegan biryani dinner prepared by @illuminating.zara and @la.mimiii_ (nut & gluten free)

In this workshop, we'll practice naming and remembering what we love as a heart-forward act of resistance against the status quo. Through play and experimentation, we'll deepen our investigation into why and what we love, and culminate our time together by building a collective poem. No prior experience with creative writing is necessary!

S. J. Ghaus is a Pakistani American writer, educator, illustrator, and cultural worker for the people. Drawing on years of community organizing in national and local movements for justice, they work across genre to dream into decolonial possibilities. They hold an MFA from Indiana University, where they received a number of awards for their writing and teaching practice, and most recently have received support from Tin House and VONA/Voices of Our Nation. You can find their work at poets.org, Poetry Daily, Hayden’s Ferry, and elsewhere.

ScrapFest (Fundraiser KHI) @scrapfestlive is a multi-cultural, diverse performance series showcasing alternative artists with varied geopolitical backgrounds and a common outsider perspective. Launched in Canada during 2019, ScrapFest made its Pakistani debut in 2021 with two shows in Karachi; and just last week debuted in Lahore.

The aim behind the Dec 17th fundraiser in Karachi, (presented by QMango Collective) is to raise funds required to organize a larger festival in Karachi for January of 2023 (Funds will be used towards artist fees and operational costs) The 2023 ScrapFest KHI show will feature rockers, rappers, singers, dancers, virtual acts and various performance based artists representing the marginalized communties and gender minorities of Pakistan.

Event policies:
* Zero tolerance for any form of harassment. Alleged will be removed and further action WILL be taken.
* Absolutely no alcohol or drugs allowed.
* No arms or weapons allowed.
* Please bring CNIC/ NICOP or passport for identification purposes.
* To create an inclusive and welcoming environment for all, we are requesting for staff, artists and attendees to prioritize speaking in Urdu.

Please pack the court for Urooj’s sentencing hearing on Friday, November 18th.

Currently, Urooj is facing 0 to 5 years in federal prison with prosecutors calling for 18-24 months prison time. She has already served 2 years under home confinement with limited mobility.
We are requesting that people show up in-person, while observing safety covid19 protocols like masking.
Please show up in-person and show the judge that the community has Urooj’s back. Please also spread the word.
