Concerned about privacy at Queer Muslim Network events? We’ve got you covered!

We understand the importance of creating a safe and inclusive space where everyone can feel comfortable and protected. That’s why QMN has implemented a simple, effective name tag policy to ensure no one is photographed or posted online without consent.

Here’s how it works:
🏷️🔴 Red Name Tag: You DO NOT want your photo taken or shared on social media.
🏷️🔵 Blue Name Tag: You’re OK with having your photo taken and possibly shared online.

If a photo is taken and your name tag isn’t visible, we’ll assume it’s red and won’t post it. Only photos featuring individuals wearing visible blue name tags will be considered for posting.

This policy has been a cornerstone of our events for nearly three years, dramatically increasing comfort and trust among community members. It allows everyone to fully enjoy the space, knowing their privacy is respected.

If you’re an event organizer, we strongly encourage adopting a similar policy to create a safer and more welcoming environment for your communities.

Your safety matters, always. by @queermuslimnetwork

The Queer and Trans Muslim Center (@qtmcenter) in collaboration with the Queer & Trans Shia Muslim Network (@qtsmnetwork), the Muslim LGBTQIA+ Network (@muslim_lgbtqplusnetwork), the Queer Muslim Network (@queermuslimnetwork), the Queer Palestinian Empowerment Network (@qpaliempowerus) and Making Mensches (@makingmensches) joins the #NoPrideInGenocide Campaign (@noprideingenocide) organized by the Muslim Alliance for Sexual and Gender Diversity (@themasgd) and the U.S. Campaign for Palestinian Rights (@uscpr) holding LGBTQIA+ Organizations accountable this Pride Month for profiting from weapons, war and genocide and demanding divestment.

THERE IS NO PRIDE IN GENOCIDE!

As people celebrate Pride, Queer and Trans rights and lives are being weaponized by Israel and the United States to justify genocide of the Palestinian people. Yet Pride organizations, alongside national LGBTQIA+ organizations that claim to represent our community, have remained silent while platforming corporations responsible for the genocide, such as weapons manufacturers.

This Pride Month, we demand that Pride organizations heed the call from Queer and Trans people of conscience: Ban the corporations profiting off of the genocide of our people and the desecration of our communities! Condemn pinkwashing and homonationalism! Call to block the bombs and end all U.S. complicity in Israel’s massive violence now!

If Pride organizations and national orgs choose not to listen, they will answer to us. Check out this toolkit for the list of demands, ways to confront your Pride organization effectively, and tons of resources to take action on their indifference.

Marsha P. Johnson said, “There is no Pride for some of us without liberation for all of us.” We will not stay silent while Israel and the U.S. government perpetrate a genocide in our names.

Check out the toolkit to take action: www.noprideingenocide.org and follow No Pride In Genocide (@noprideingenocide) for updates and more resources.

And that’s 3/4 iftars completed in Montréal — Ramadan is zooming by so we hope that you are getting in some time to reflect and get some rest! One of our largest gatherings so far :)

Aside from being one of our largest gatherings so far, last night in Villeray was filled with impromptu jam sessions and collective shared artwork making, and the sharing of the most random of videos…and as always some excellent food! 🍲 🎨

Unable to make it last night? No worries — our last iftar will take place on March 14th in St.Henri/Downtown! Come and join us — we have a home for you here ✨💐 by @queermuslimnetwork

And that’s a wrap on the 2/4 iftars in Montréal! Can you believe it’s already the 12th of Ramadan? We can’t either!

Last night, new and old friends gathered in Outremont to have joyful conversations around queerness, relationships, and our paths to and around Islam. It’s not always easy being a Queer Muslim, but we are here and we can build together 🎉

Check-out the sweet iftar spread, and an absolutely sweet guest on the third slide! Unable to make it last night? No worries — we’ve still got Villeray and St. Henri remaining on March 7th and March 14th respectively! Come and join us — we have a home for you here 💕✨ by @queermuslimnetwork

We’re so back! See you on Sunday 😘
