Progress on Custodian + a page from my sketchbook (palate cleanser). No kerning yet, but it's nice setting it in things I’ve been meaning to read/revisit. Some minor warping caused by a sticky outdoor table. 1. Southern Pomo text samples compiled from various sources. 2-3. Hlg̱aagilda X̱aayda Kil (Haida) text samples compiled from various sources. 4. Jeffery Keedy, "Style Is Not a Four Letter Word," Emigre, no. 67 (2004). 5. Patricia D’Souza, "Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami Proposals for UN Declaration Action Plan Include Legislation, Policy Measures," Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami (March 21, 2023), [Text set in Inuktitut syllabics]. 6. Hinónoʼeitíít (Arapaho) text samples compiled from various sources. 7. Arkady and Boris Strugatsky, Roadside Picnic, trans. Olena Bormashenko (Chicago: Chicago Review Press, 2012). 8. Sketchbook: Inuktitut word ᐃᓄᒃᑎᑐᑦ and Ktunaxa ȼ̓ (c with stroke and comma above). by @quequedatype
A bit of progress on Custodian Syllabics. Here's a quick look at the support for Inuktitut. I'd love to get this into people's hands, so please reach out if you're interested! ᓇᑯᕐᒦᒃ! by @quequedatype

Small preview of Custodian, a typeface I’ve been working on. A humanist sans with support focused specifically on North American Indigenous languages and writing systems. I’ve had it’s usage in mind for educational materials and museums, but I think it could serve other spaces as well. Photo taken on a bike ride to Wolf Lake, near the Chicago and Indiana border. Tomorrow (October 24), I’ll be sharing some of my latest progress and ideas at the @letrasticafest Open Forum, discussing my vision for the next step in my practice: creating a foundry centered on the linguistic landscape of North America. Excited to be back in Guadalajara! #letrasticafest #letrastica5 by @quequedatype
