@djhellofficial
DJ Hell aka Helmut Josef Geier is widely regarded as a defining figure at the crossroads of music, fashion and contemporary art. Emerging in the 1980s, he debuted on the legendary R&S imprint in 1992 and became a pioneering force in electronic music, shaping underground culture in Munich, Berlin and far beyond.

As a musical innovator, DJ Hell played a crucial role in the rise of Electroclash, fusing Techno, Electro, New Wave and Punk aesthetics into a bold, seductive sound. Through his influential label International Deejay Gigolo Records, he introduced groundbreaking artists such as Miss Kittin, The Hacker and Vitalic to an international audience. His DJ sets and productions helped define the raw, stylish edge of Europe’s club scene.
With Electroclash experiencing renewed global attention, his new album Neoclash revisits and recontextualises the genre for today. Rather than simply looking back, the record updates its attitude and aesthetic language for a contemporary landscape, reaffirming DJ Hell’s role as both originator and forward-thinker.

Beyond music, DJ Hell established himself as a fashion figure, collaborating with designers including Hugo Boss, Vivienne Westwood and Rick Owens. Frequently contributing soundtracks to runway shows and making high-profile appearances, his personal style - a striking blend of dandyism, Punk attitude and futuristic minimalism - cemented his status within the fashion world.
Visually and conceptually, his work reflects a deep engagement with art and subculture. Collaborations with figures such as Wolfgang Tillmans, Ellen von Unwerth and Tom of Finland underscore his commitment to strong aesthetics and provocative imagery. Themes of gender, sexuality, decadence and avant-garde expression run throughout his projects.

More than a DJ or producer, DJ Hell represents a cultural movement - merging club culture with fashion and art into a sophisticated, queer, intellectual universe that deliberately challenges the mainstream.

@baron_von_trax

Baron Von Trax, the alias of Melbourne DJ and producer Gidi Segal, is a product of the city’s rich artistic and musical ecosystem. His sound - a distinct fusion of trance and house - channels the euphoria of 90s piano house and the unrelenting energy of hard house, reimagined for contemporary dancefloors.

With a background in classical piano, Segal brings a melodic sensitivity to his productions and DJ sets, crafting sequences that prioritises emotional impact and harmonies alongside a fluency in breakbeats, linear drums and warehouse beats.

It’s a sound where neo-club edits meet remixes and Baron Von Trax’s original productions, that further collide with UK garage basslines, disco flourishes, and soaring trance motifs.

The result is a pastiche of UK and US club tropes reimagined through an Australian lens: playful and dynamic - eschewing the darker tones favoured by many of his contemporaries.

Opting for brightness and euphoria, the artist’s high-tempo sets ultimately blend nostalgia with a forward-thinking edge. Creating immersive experiences, the artist draws from a colourful palette of inspirations, keeping it nostalgic and full of optimism, innovative and familiar as fuck.

@co_kr

DJ co.kr (pronounced koh-ker) is a Seoul-based DJ and producer leading the charge in blending UK-flavoured sounds with the ever-evolving Korean club scene. Over the past seven years, DJ co.kr has carved out a niche in Seoul’s underground as a cross-genre maestro, drawing inspiration from the influx of UK acts at iconic venues like Cakeshop and Club Modeci.

As the mastermind behind Ghetto-Ray, a party brand aiming to transform Seoul’s dancefloors, DJ co.kr swiftly blends bass, breaks, house and other club ware next to local sounds to present a style uniquely DJ co.kr’s own. Navigating the challenges of introducing UK sounds to Seoul’s club-goers, the artist gradually earned a reputation for bold, forward-thinking sets - soon catching the attention of crews like Steel City Dance Discs and leftfield upstarts like Biroso Records.

DJ co.kr’s production debut, SOUNDBWOY, featuring Riko Dan from Roll Deep and rising Nigerian star Maggugu, further solidified the artist’s standing in the global scene. Hooking up with the likes of Lady Lykez, Bryte, and Killa P on SOUNDBWOY 2, DJ co.kr kept on bridging the gap between continents, with the DJ’s music resonating across both Seoul and international audiences with mainland Europe now at large.

A regular on platforms like Boiler Room, BBC Radio, and NTS Radio, DJ co.kr has also brought a sound to high-profile events for brands such as Bottega Veneta, Louis Vuitton, and Nike. In 2023, DJ co.kr’s influence extended worldwide as he continued performing and releasing music en-flow, with notable gigs at events like Slave To The Rave in Berlin, Colour Factory in London, Zhaodai in Shanghai and Moonshine Festival in Montreal plus other killer shows with UNiiQU3, Moktar, Nikki Nair and more besides.

@ngoni_

Raised in Dublin and based in Holland, Ngoni Egan is a machine-wares producing DJ whose sound is up there with the very best of modern day standards. Having transplanted to Rotterdam after running the gamut of Ireland’s club-scape - frequenting Irish venues like The Bernard Shaw, Yamamori Tengu, Wigwam and Index - his DJ-and-live sets have seen him line up internationally alongside DJ Hell Helena Hauff, Privacy and DJ Stingray to landing bookings inside Glitch, Orbit, DGTL and Dekmantel Selectors festivals.

With stand out club appearances at Herrensauna, Corsica Studios, De School, Nitsa and a phenomenal live debut at Berghain, Ngoni’s sound is full of pace, bombastic and in-line with a historical Detroit lineage. With a smattering of music to be found across a clutch of Irish labels, it’s his ‘Re Teng’ opus for United Identities that signals the producer’s musical intentions and snappy flair for white hot, minimal and riffing electro.

Sequencing frenetic beats and deep sea grooves for the dancefloor - it’s an industrial side to his sound that takes inspirations from the likes of Dynarec-through-DeFekt in a movement that his Lepton collective have held down through associations with the likes of Alienta, Dez Williams and Jensen Interceptor all the more.

With a high tempo attitude, solid electro framework and tenacious bounce to his live set up , Ngoni adroitly takes in a stripped-back yet pumping and melodic approach to his craft, with a minimalesque, synth-rich and drum machine individuality. And with his groundwork done, Ngoni presents himself as a fresh and inspiring artist for a new generation, keeping the future, and hope for it, alive.

@x3butterfly

x3butterfly is a Mexican-American DJ and producer native to Detroit.

With a background in experimental performance art and interdisciplinary studies completed at California Institute of the Arts - x3butterfly’s call to clubland eventually saw the artist take up a life in Europe before ultimately making a move to New York.

Maintaining a transient ability to float across the Atlantic when the sonic nature of Berlin calls, x3butterfly’s breakthrough as a DJ has allowed for sets to pierce clubs like Panorama Bar, Ohm and Oxi, to others across continental Europe and North America, while successfully securing tours throughout Asia & Australia too.

Holding it down in NYC as a resident at Paragon, and regular guest at clubs like BASEMENT and Nowadays, x3butterfly’s sound is heavily influenced by their background as a dancer, both classical and contemporary. Inspired furthermore by early Throbbing Gristle and Coil, they align themselves with UK club culture and Detroit techno, as well as integrating euphoric sounds of Chicago house. x3butterfly considers their approach to DJing the intersection between the somatic and sonic.

Translating ego, fantasy, intimacy, and spirituality into an artistic medium, x3butterfly can be heard combining jungle, drum and bass, R&B and dubstep with dark, industrial and experimental sounds, as much as it can be house, hard breaks, club jams, UKG and baile funk.

As a fluid identifying artist, x3butterfly made ground in Mexico by helping their home town of Guanajuato host its first queer party, alongside online appearances for Boiler Room and The Sound Gallery. No stranger to radio either, x3butterfly mixes can be found on The Lot Radio, NTS and Rinse FM - next to delivering The Lowdown’s 150th podcast, and inaugurating Paragon’s Residence Mix Series.

By embracing a transatlantic vision of underground culture, queer communities and experimental scenes, x3butterfly’s improvisational technique and interdisciplinary approach flies by its own wings.

@djgodfatherdetroit

With techno originally hailed as The House Sound of Detroit - there’s no denying the motor city has its own definitive genre: Ghetto Tech. A true pioneer of the sound, DJ Godfather, like so many in Detroit was inspired by local radio - WJLB, The Electrifying Mojo and Jeff ‘The Wizard’ Mills - but for Brian Jeffries, aka DJ Godfather, it was scratch DJs, hip hop and DMC battles that kick-started his love for turntablism.

Playing house parties and teen clubs as a 15-year-old, DJ Godfather quickly learned how to keep a dancefloor hot - and having actually purchased The Wizards’ turntables from the man Jeff Mills himself, DJ Godfather honed his craft. At 17 he found himself playing downtown bars and gigs in the suburbs, before taking off to warehouse raves and illegal parties, like those at Detroit’s Packard Plant.

An intimidating force behind the decks, he’s known to drop 60-to-70 records in a one hour DJ set, with plenty of flair, beat juggling and Detroit hustle in between. With his first solo record coming through the Twilight ‘76 label he set up in 1994, DJ Godfather would go on to establish the Databass imprint - still going strong with 150-plus releases - along with a specialised set of sub-labels including Juke Trax and D.E.T. Only.

For more than 25 years now DJ Godfather has been an advocate for ghetto tech at large, consistently drawing the biggest daytime crowd year-for-year at Detroit’s Movement Festival - uniting juke and jit dancers alike - while also exploring a myriad of genres like Miami bass, footwork, electro and more. Hooking up with the likes of Keith Tucker, Andrea Parker and DJs Deeon, Detroit Grand Pubahs and Fat Boy Slim over the years, it was only in 2020 that he saw the release of his 44 track debut solo album, Electro Beats For Freaks.

DJ Godfather never loses faith in how his music can bring different people and genres together. “To me ghetto tech is a culture; mixing techno, house, electro, and booty records to create one vibe,” he says. “I do ghetto tech records because it’s me. My one music that I’m passionate about. Love.”

A cultural leader when it comes to spreading the word, love and appeal of techno music the world over, the UK’s Jerome Hill is a living legacy. From running five extraordinary and much-loved record labels - DON’T, Super Rhythm Trax, Bleeper, Hornsey Hardcore & Fat Hop - to decades spent managing record shops and playing illegal raves in London - Jerome Hill is a life dedicated to music.

Technically one of the best mixers around, and one of the few to successfully integrate scratching and turntablism into techno and rave - alongside his hip hop, funk and soul sets - Hill’s first priority is always the atmosphere and vibe of the room.

Revelling in the shared experience by tweaking atmospheres and deftly bouncing between moods, Hill’s ‚hands on‘ mixing style motions from dramatic and humourous all the way to obscure and techno-serious thanks to decades of experience behind the decks.

Coining the term ‘wonky techno’ back in the day to help define a movement pioneered by cohorts such as Cristian Vogel, Neil Landstrumm and Subhead - Jerome Hill as we speak can now be seen frequenting line ups alongside Forest Drive West, Randomer and Privacy - to legends of the scene Galaxian, Regis, Juan Atkins and all nighter back-to-back sessions with Ben Sims.

Respected as a DJs DJ - and never the diva - Jerome Hill can be spotted deftly balancing a shaky turntable and half-full beer on Trailer TV, to dropping bombs for a booming techno session with FOLD, or sharing the decks with Manni Dee on Rinse FM.

Forever keeping hope alive for both punters and artists alike, Jerome Hill’s DON’T parties have furthermore reconnected his veteran crowd with a new reach of fans, that despite the ups and downs of modern life, keep the new school raver, old school head and music lover united all the same.
