A couple of days ago, I had 3 teeth removed to prepare for the medication that will help strengthen my bones before my stem cell transplant for multiple myeloma.

People often ask why this is necessary. Some bone-strengthening medications (called bisphosphonates) can, in rare cases, make it difficult for the jawbone to heal after dental work. Removing any problem teeth before starting treatment helps reduce that risk and gives me the best chance of a smooth recovery.

Not the most enjoyable day 😬, but every step gets me one step closer to my stem cell transplant and, hopefully, getting my life back.
