coming at you for this @bandcamp friday: 3 tracks / 23 minutes and 13 seconds of live #improvised #psychrock.

after going off about 2026 being a busy year, we've been 🤫 since dropping 650 grams last december. rest assured, there are reasons (some good and some not). catch one of us in person and we'll regale with tales.

special thanks to @snailhook for hitting his @zoomsoundlab's record button ⏺️

we made it through a health crisis, multiple car crashes, equipment gremlins, and the ongoing throes of late-stage capitalism to bring you 8 releases in 2025.

despite all the negative hullabaloo, we're sad to say goodbye to this year as it gave us the chance to focus our energies and dig through the archives to share the many facets of our sonic universe with you.

expect more from us in 2026, including: wearable merch, a return to live performances, and 🤞🤞 our first remix album. taken in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by @quietabandon

#bandcampfriday and another set of jams from @quietabandon. "what is wind?" features three pieces taken from three different recordings done between July and September, making it our most contemporaneous release yet.

If you've ever wanted to hear a @gratefuldead live cassette played through electric guitar pickups, we've got you covered!

And yes, one of us really did go to high school with someone named Wind (can you guess who?).

our latest release: this is my blood anita

this one's for @greggogreggogreggo (whose spectacularly slippery slide and shiftily searing lead guitar drive these two pieces), currently recuperating from a worst case scenario and needing all our love and uplifting vibes

we love you greggo — rest up, get well, and rock on ❤️ taken in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by @quietabandon

today is our sweet abe’s birthday. band dad, resident expert on the unlikeliest things, trickster spirit of sonic mischief. kind and decent and the only bass player that could possibly have fit into our strange little band. we love and treasure you abe! by @quietabandon

Philadelphia’s Quiet Abandon—an improvisational psychedelic rock trio—took their atmospheric, bone-rattling soundscapes to new depths on October 30, 2023, when they performed a live, fully improvised score to the iconic silent horror film The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari at Reactive Sound, Jenkintown, PA.

In this unique performance, Quiet Abandon captured the twisted essence of Dr. Caligari’s eerie, shadow-laden visuals and dark psychological themes. The band’s seamless blend of drone explorations, thunderous crescendos, and ambient soundscapes amplified the film’s hypnotic horror, creating an unforgettable journey through fear and fascination.

The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, a 1920 German silent horror masterpiece, explores themes of authority, sanity, and manipulation. With jagged shapes, painted shadows, and surreal landscapes, it’s a timeless work of German Expressionism and a landmark in horror cinema.

Quiet Abandon’s soundtrack adds an intense, claustrophobic energy that feels dangerously alive, drawing viewers deeper into the abyss. Even as a standalone listen, it’s a plunge into a haunting, experimental soundscape that fans of horror—and immersive sound—can enjoy year-round.

Halloween may be over, but this experience is here to stay. For those who dare, Quiet Abandon invites you to lose yourself on the edge of consciousness.
