I think this might be one of my favorite quilts I’ve made lately.

I love taking a pile of little fabric scraps and turning them into something like this. I’ll be honest…when I started putting these fabrics together, I wasn’t completely sure where I was going with it. But somewhere along the way, it started coming together.

You don’t always know what the finished quilt is going to look like when you start. You just keep cutting, sewing, pressing, and piecing it together one little piece at a time.

This one has so many little fabrics that I love: the florals, the purples, the tiny prints… and somehow they all work together.

It makes me think about how often life is like that, too. We don’t always understand why certain pieces are there or how they’re going to fit. We just keep going and trust that eventually we’ll see the whole picture.

That’s why I love quilting so much. It’s not just making a quilt— it’s watching something beautiful come together one little piece at a time.

And I think I needed that reminder this week.

📢 Quilter confession…

I have absolutely bought fabric before knowing exactly what I was going to make with it. 😬

Sometimes I see a fabric I love and the project comes later. And sometimes the fabric just needs to come home with me. That’s how it works, right? … Tell me I’m not the only one.

This creation came from a panel (Insects All Around by Elizabeth’s Studio) my sister fell in love with at a quilt show and a jelly roll she just couldn’t live without…. And months later— here we are!!! A few blocks in and still unsure how to finish it or where it’s going to go. Maybe add a few borders? Maybe bind it and use as a wall-hanging? Maybe I’ll update in a few months when we get there!

What’s in my sewing bag? 👀 💼

A quilter’s bag is basically a little collection of things that make the magic happen. Here’s what I never seem to be without:

🪡 Schmetz needles: for obvious reasons! 😂
✂️ Pinking shears: perfect for trimming appliqué pieces.
✂️ Embroidery scissors: for those pesky loose threads and tiny snips.
🖊️ Sharpie Fine Line pen: for notes, markings, and keeping track of pattern instructions.
✨ Faultless starch spray: to prep and smooth my fabric before cutting.
🧴 505 temporary adhesive glue stick: especially handy for gluing baste hexagons.
🔪 Seam ripper: because no matter how carefully you sew, sometimes those seams need to come back out! 😂
📎 Small clips: perfect for holding binding securely around the edge of a quilt while hand-stitching.
🧵 Dual Duty thread: my go-to for hand-binding quilts.
📏 5” square ruler: for squaring up blocks and keeping those little pieces just right.

And somehow, there’s always room for one more notion… or one more piece of fabric. 😉😂

Where It All Began 🇺🇸🧵

This quilt holds a special place in my heart because it was my very first Quilts of Valor quilt. ❤️🤍💙

Quilting became something so much more meaningful to me when I realized that these stitches could be used to honor someone’s service and sacrifice.

Every piece, every stitch, and every hour spent creating it was a small way of saying thank you to someone who gave so much for our country.

This quilt was the beginning of a journey that eventually became Quilted Clover.🍀

And now, I’m honored to turn memories, stories, and meaningful pieces into heirlooms that can be cherished for generations.

Hi, I’m Ashtin— the maker behind Quilted Clover 🤍

If you’re looking for me, there’s a pretty good chance I’m either in my sewing room, traveling to a quilt show somewhere across Central or Southern Ohio, or scrolling through the latest Riley Blake fabrics and dreaming up my next project. 😂🧵

I love creating baby quilts and keepsakes, panel quilts, memory quilts, and custom pieces— especially when I get to take an idea, a meaningful fabric, or a special memory and turn it into something completely unique.

For me, quilting is about so much more than fabric and thread. It’s about creating something that tells a story, celebrates a moment, or becomes an heirloom to love for years to come.

And yes… I have absolutely bought fabric because I “needed it for a project” that I hadn’t even dreamed up yet. 😉😂
