This day' UNESCO site was the Prambanan Temple, labeled as the most beautiful Hindu temple in Southeast Asia. This one was also built in the 9th century ACE. Climbing the Stairway to Heaven.... Heaven is what the uppermost level of the Borburdur temple is called. Built around the 8th century AD and located in the middle of the island of Java, this intricately carved temple is Indonesia's most important UNESCO site. I had to get up at 3 AM to see the sun rise from Heaven, but it was well worth it. . . #patchworkofexperiences #Borburdur #visitJava #visitindonesia #stairway to heaven by @quiltripping

Learning to make traditional batik fabric at Batik Seno in Yogakarta, Indonesia. 1. I chose a pre drawn panel 2. Drew on the lines with wax using a special stylus 3. One of the staff fixed the wax lines on my panel and removes the wax blobs i made 4. Another staff member applies wax to the background around my image 5. I paint the unwanted areas in my choice of colors, in my case I just wanted blue 6. The paint is dried in the sun 7. The dyes are fixed in an acid bath 8. The panel is rinsed in clean water 9.. Staff member takes the panel of the frame and I bunch it all up to create a crinkly background. The the panel is attached back on a frame. 10. I apply more dye to the background, again I chose blue 11. The panel is dried, acid fixed and rinsed 12. Panel is removed from the frame an put into boiling water to remove the wax, then rinsed again 13. My finished piece is hung up to dry. It's certainly not as professional looking as what the experts made, but I am happy with it. I just finished a week experiencing the MSC Yacht Club on the MSC World America cruise ship. The Yacht Club provided an intimate, private, and secluded setting while allowing me to also try the many food and entertainment venues throughout the mega ship. In the Yacht Club each cabin has its own butler who takes care of everything. From making reservations to escorting guests to the specialty restaurants to bringing evening treats, he took great personal care of me. The Yacht Club had its own dedicated lounge, restaurants, and outdoor decks with a pool and hot tub. Ended my week on the MSC World America with a day at Ocean Cay, MSC's private island in the Bahamas. Since I have been staying in a Yacht Club cabin, I had access to a cabana for the day on the Yacht Club exclusive beach along with lunch at the Ocean Terrace restaurant. It was a beautiful, relaxing day of sand, sun, and surf. It's hard to believe this beautiful piece of land was once an industrial sand mining site. MSC has cleaned up the island and the surrounding reefs, they've reseeded the reefs with coral, and planted a bounty of greenery, turning this into a real Bahamian paradise. . . #Patchworkofexperiences #oceancay #mscworlamerica #msccruise #cruiselover by @quiltripping

One of the MSC Yacht Club excursion options in Roatan was a villa for the day at the Turquoise Bay Beach Resort. And since the MSC World America was the only ship I'm port on this day, our excursion group of 10 had the beach all to ourselves. I finished my month-long trip to Africa with a 5 day cruise on the Chobe River on one of the Chobe Princess houseboats. The Chobe River acts as the border between Botswana and Namibia with the large Chobe National Park bordering the river on the Botswana side. Whether cruising on the houseboat or on one of the many smaller boat safaris we did each day, we saw an abundance of wildlife along the river: hippos, giraffes, crocodikes, baboons, lions, impalas, jackals, and monkeys. The highlights were the many, many elephants, though I saw just a fraction of the 100,000 that roam the park. There was also an abundance of colorful birds in all sizes. And the bright red sunsets were to die for. The Chobe Princess was such a pleasant way to experience this part of the country. The service was excellent, the food and wine delicious, and all the accommodations spacious and comfortable. I would rate the quality of this cruise on the same level with the small boat cruises I have done in Europe - actually it was better because of all the wildlife. . . #patchworkofexperiences #chobeprincess #choberive #Botswana #elephants taken in Chobe National Park, Botswana by @quiltripping
