My letter to basketball,You’ve given me more than any amount of words can describe but I’ll try my best. First and foremost, thank you. Thank you for allowing a nerdy, big headed, goofy kid to find your love but I’ve literally given you my blood, sweat, and tears. Today is the day that I have no more to give to you. I’m hanging them up with nothing but gratitude, happiness, and just a bit of sadness but through all the ups and downs of my journey, I’ve been able to travel the world, make life long friendships, gain irreplaceable knowledge on and of the court, meet/play with/against some cool people along the way, and most importantly, make an impact on the next generation of young hoopers. For this I’m proud of myself, thank you.To my brother Akio and Uncle Khaneal,Thank you for introducing me to all those long hours of torture playing 2v1 and building that competitive nature in me. I can honestly say, I would not have that edge I needed to compete in the high school, collegiate, or professional levels without you both. I love you big brothers. To my parents,Judy, Walter, Tanika, and Antoine, you 4 have all supported me in my journey in more than one way. Thank you for not only helping me become a better player on the court but also a better man off of it as well. Thank you for being in my ear about school, life after basketball, and taking care of my responsibilities as a student, athlete, and man. I love you guys. Lastly, for all that have supported me in anyway (or hated), thank you and I appreciate all the growing you’ve all helped me do. I’m officially retired from sports at the professional level.
