🎗️New sticker drop! Available at Vashon Made🎗️

I found a solution for the "too busy for a stained glass" design. Who gives a moving-away person a heavy and fragile gift, anyway? 🤷‍♀️ Yeah, just printed it on a hat and stickers. People could sign on the hat before we gave it to him, so it was meant to be! #theprofessionalofexcuses

While working on the graphic, I thought about my dear friend Gerie who always encouraged me to make things, and decided to print more stickers to raise a fund for The Gerie Wilson Play Grant. https://geriegrant.org or since Instagram has the...unique...feature of not allowing weblinks, search for "Gerie grant Vashon" for the details 😉 If my calculation is right, net profit would be just $1.80 per sticker, like #thegoldenhummingbird 💧, but a little step is still a step 👣

The troll creator Thomas Dambo team generously approved the usage of the design with the Bird King Oscar on it for this purpose 🙏Tak! 🐦👑

Just dropped off the first batch at Vashon Made 🧡

Excited to have a booth at Glass Fest Northwest!

Painted my dog on a pinto horse, inspired by @rw_hampton music for fun, and now I'm cutting the brown glass for a western scenery lamp 🤎🌵 for the festival ✨️

Meet Señor Saguaro 🌵 His birthday is June 27, 2026, yet, based on his height, arm development, and physical characteristics, he must be 50+ years old. I loved learning cacti trivia while planning this little piece.

Although the design is simple, this is by far the largest woodworking project I have built by myself, both in overall size and in the number of parts: 336. First, I ripped ¾” wide strips from a ¾" × 4' × 8' plywood and glued them around a cardboard tube with the veneer facing outward. This approach presented some challenges but created a more interesting look than leaving the plywood's face side exposed. Arms were built in a similar manner. I chose Minwax water-based stain “Green Tea” to show the vertical patterns.

Since I don’t have a woodshop, I borrowed most of the corded tools from our local tool library and its wonderful volunteers. The Dremel was given to me by my late dear friend who had always encouraged me to make things. My grandma worked at a furniture factory. My former coworkers taught me how to use the other tools I picked up while I was there. All the influence and connections flowed into this 66 ¼” tall cactus.

Possible future additions are flower(s) and a bird either feeding on the flower or peeking through a hole on the cactus.

I built this for @familyhandyman plywood challenge, but when I finally tried to submit on the due date, the form didn't load. Probably us the last-minuters crushed the system or something 😬 I don't know if my email counted as an entry or not, but either way, it was a fun and learning experience.

Señor Saguaro is done, and off to a photoshoot!
These are taken by me, but @ptwoodschool generously offered photo sessions which was both fun and inspiring experience ✨️

I loved learning cacti trivia during planning for this little project 🌵 I wanted to add flower(s) and a bird, then ran out of time. Phase 2? 🤔
