I haven’t visited my family home in Vietnam in over 10 years. I remember it in pieces.

Atlas is a zine about access and observation. Stringing together Google Earth images, street view perspectives, and words that aren’t my own, I’m able to experience and re-remember the first home/street that I lived in/on. by @quuanp

I’ve been trying to find the time to create projects just for myself. I just finished designing this zine, which is supposed to be a continuation from my thesis this past spring. This was rewarding for a couple reasons: (1) I wanted to practice more typsetting/layout design, and (2) I realized I’ll probably never stop talking about my family so this was much needed — especially since I was experiencing a bit of burn out so focusing on something so personal was perfect.

The zine contains the remainder of the interview footage that was never used in my final cut. I appreciated the process of documenting my families’ oral history so much that it only felt right to find a way to commemorate all the words that my parents and grandmother shared. It’s an exercise and artifact of memory.
