There are no words to describe how grateful I am for this debut show. My biggest and most heartfelt gratitude to @bcbench @benchtm @noelmanapat for giving me a platform to tell the story of Paloma.

More so, it was an honor working with all my artisans, designers, and collaborators on this project. The attention to detail and the conversations we’ve exchanged are things I’ll always keep in mind and remember. Truly one for the books. ♡

Paloma SS27 — Bench Fashion Week Holiday 2026

SHOW NOTES

Paloma is a breath of fresh air, a form of break and intention, and the idea of presence and being in the moment of fleeting times. To create things without hindrance and just see what happens. Taking it all in and knowing that the particular moment will never happen again the same time around.

The collection starts off exploring Pablo Picasso’s 1956 Pigeon series that I witnessed in Spain. It was a body of work created as a form of meditation and break. It was different from what the world was familiar with, as if it had been painted by a younger soul.

The balcony overlooking the sea with the pigeons chirping in the background — a form of reset and reconnection with oneself. It was a safe space where one could think freely and observe endlessly, an apothecary created to store things that heal them and take all the time they need to finally get the flow back.

Translated through a playful mix of colors from the series, draped silhouettes, and experimental and unconventional textiles, some pieces hinting the pause of time while others signaling the flow. A collection with elements rooted in familiarity, drawn from places where my creativity roamed freely and intentionally.

As Picasso once said, “it took me four years to paint like Raphael but a lifetime to paint like a child.”

Winged liner mimicking a bird’s flight, contact lenses that don’t look quite human, and streaks of blue—these took over the runway at Bench (@benchtm) Fashion Week Holiday 2026.

R. Studios (@r.__studios) paired feather-soft textures with hair inspired by Picasso’s pigeons. Bryan Peralta (@bryanperalta.ph) gave models snake-like contacts, channeling an alien civilization dressing itself for the first time. Edwin Ao (@studioedwinao) ran streaks of blue through the hair and eyes, a mark of transformation running through the collection.

Day 1 of #BENCHFashionWeekHoliday26 (@benchtm) reveals a younger soul hidden inside R. Studios’ (@r.__studios)’s newest collection, ‘Paloma’.

During a trip to Spain, Renée de Guzman (@reneeedg) encountered Pablo Picasso’s 1957 Pigeon series and was struck by how youthful the paintings looked for an artist so established. Picasso admittedly knew the irony himself: “It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child.”

De Guzman finds her own way back there, too, and the pigeons follow her home. The R.STUDIOS designer keeps her silhouettes relatively relaxed through softly structured separates, while the birds appear more literally in the accessories.

Swipe through to see the collection.

For #ReneeDeGuzman of @rstudios, “Paloma” is a moment to pause. Inspired by the feeling of taking a breath and resetting, the collection explores what happens when an artist retreats into their own safe space and waits for the flow to return.

Inspired by Pablo Picasso’s 1957 Pigeon series, “Paloma” brings together tweeds, cotton linens, and fluid fabrics, with feathers emerging as a defining element throughout the collection.

The collection moves between 1950s- and ’60s-inspired furniture fabrics and luxe suiting designed for both men and women, giving “Paloma” a polished yet tactile wardrobe.

#BryanPeralta looks beyond Earth for his latest collection, drawing on NASA’s Voyager Golden Records, discs sent into space carrying sounds, images, and information about life on Earth.

Parachute silk raincoats, wrap-bandana heels, and vivid separates push the collection further into its world of clashing color and form. For Peralta, the clothes are wearable, relatable, and, above all, meant to make people smile.

A navy trench coat sets a more classic tone before the color turns up: marigold yellow appears on a wrap T-shirt dress, while hot pink and red come together on a nightdress layered with a peach dressing gown.

Edwin Ao presents “Chlorophyll Hexagons: The Body in Impermanence,” a collection that explores nature, transformation, and the human form through reassembled street photography and evolving materiality. The Cebuano designer brings his vision of renewal to the runway.

Drawing from images captured through street photography, Ao deconstructs and reassembles fragments into new visual compositions, creating a visual language of transformation and impermanence.

A sheer dress is scattered with match-like embellishments rendered in beads, while X-ray scan-like appliqués create another layer of visual distortion across the body.

BENCH Fashion Week Holiday 2026 Designer | R.STUDIOS @r.__studios

Renee de Guzman is a contemporary Filipino designer whose practice is rooted in textiles, experimental motifs, and the intimate narratives that shape everyday life. A graduate of Raffles College of Higher Education in Singapore and London College of Fashion, she approaches ready-to-wear as tactile storytelling. Through her label, R.STUDIOS, de Guzman transforms personal observation into objects designed to be lived in, remembered, and passed down. Expanding from its signature style in 2024 to a full ready-to-wear and footwear lineup by late 2025, the brand continually champions experimental textiles alongside meticulous Philippine craftsmanship.
