enjoi spring/summer 2012 “communist pigs” tee. size medium, measures 19x27 inches.

this shirt features stylized parodies of enjoi’s then-top 3 skaters; Louie Barletta as Joseph Stalin, Jerry Hsu as Mao Zedong, and Nestor Judkins as Fidel Castro. each caricature had its likeness imposed onto decks that were sold, as shown in slides 5 and 7.

Zoology Lookbook Pt. 1/2:

The world is a zoo. And we are the keepers. We have taken such great responsibility and have transformed a place built from open grazing into a trench pit of muck and grime that never again will know what it’s like to be free from a veil before the sun. The cars get larger, the oil burns faster, and we all pay the price. We drill so that a 16 year old can floor their lifted truck on the I-10 and simultaneously pump the air with gallons worth of poison. We will still drill so that a diesel, broad nosed monster may plow through a forest, whether it be lived-in or not. We will still drill so that our grocery stores stay stocked routinely with all the sugary gooey goodness that comes in cellophane. The world is sacred. We are the one-in-a-million. The odds of life, the chance to have a chance. Don’t blow it. Breathe it in, sit with it for a moment, then breathe out a flow of life into whatever it is you may do.

90s Sea Shepherd Conservation Society fundraising tee. size large, measures 19x27 inches.
.
Founded in 1977 by Paul Watson, the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society is a group of volunteer deckhands, mechanics, and conservation activists who attempt to combat poaching, over-harvesting, and the illegal killing of protected fish and whale populations. They operate in international waters on the basis of campaigns, and were most notably featured in Animal Planet’s “Whale Wars”, where Captain Watson and his crew confronted Japanese whaling vessels. More recently, Captain Watson and the management within the organization have butted heads, mostly on the basis of approach towards combating their foes, which saw Watson depart altogether from the organization.

The Sea Shepherds are an entirely 100% crowdfunded organization and operate solely off the basis of donations and fundraising campaigns, such as merchandise sales or straight donations. This shirt is an early example of that, and will not be for sale at this time🏰 by @r0liah

OG107 shirt hand stenciled with iconography from the punk band “Flux of Pink Indians” and their debut 1981 EP “Neu Smell”. Distressed and tattered.
.
Flux of Pink Indians (better known commonly as ‘Flux’) was an English leftist anarcho punk rock band from Hertfordshire in east England. They formed in 1980 and signed with the Crass Records label in 1981. Their debut EP, titled ‘Neu Smell’, was released in 1981 containing songs that still get airtime in punk channels today, such as “Tube Disasters” and “Background of Malfunction”. After this first release, Flux was met with harsh criticism and censorship from not only the government, but record retailers as well. The copies of their 1984 album “The Fucking Cunts Treat Us Like Pricks” landed the band charges for “Obscene articles for publication for gain”. The band officially disbanded in 1987 with the only re-formations after the fact being intended to support ex-Crass vocalist Steve Ignorant for his solo-revival gigs. Originally, record releases and live performances were accompanied by freebies produced independently by the band themselves in the form of graphitti stencils, political pamphlets, and other literature.

Interesting notes:
- Crass records was an independent record label that was set up by the punk band Crass.
- Flux was formed from the remaining members of the band ‘The Epileptics’, whom had rebranded just prior to their dissolvement after to ‘Epi-X’ after numerous letters of complaint from the British Epilepsy Association.
- Crass Record’s first single was “You Can Be You” by Honey Bane, a teenager who had been staying at the Dial House commune while avoiding a children’s home (foster care), with the backing band for this release being Crass themselves renamed as ‘Donna and the Kebabs’.
.
Who knows, maybe the original veteran who wore this shirt in Vietnam grew into a punk after his service and found Flux, stenciling his old uniform in the 80s, or maybe it was a young soul who took their father’s army uniform and diy-d it into subversion. Hard to say.

original late 60s vietnam war U.S. special forces gold tiger stripe camo shirt. size medium regular. features a cigarette sleeve pocket and two chest pockets. measures 21.5x26 inches with a 19 inch shoulder 22 inch sleeves.
.
originally synthesized and worn by the south vietnamese during the early vietnam war, the united states army saw the success of the ‘tiger’ pattern camouflage and wanted a piece of the pie. while the original vietnamese garments were too small for US soldiers, given the naturally smaller form of the vietnamese fighters, US leadership brought patterns to local vietnamese tailors and ordered shirts utilizing the camo from these tailors. the CISO, in part funded by the CIA, covertly assisted in the ordering and fulfillment of these garments for US special forces. in the undercover nature of this action, most official military contract numbers or markings are absent from these items. this shirt has retained a very strong cigarette smell that fills any room it is in. i have included a photo showing how i found this on the rack.
