We wanted to know how we understood grief and found meaning. Across hours of laughter, tears, and speaking about our grandparents and their stories, the idea that eventually became this film sparked.

So we studied, learnt, and played, and after years of collaboration with the most incredible people (and of learning more about ourselves, our communities, and film) we are overwhelmed with joy to share that Highs & Lows is finally finished.

We are excited to share a sneak peek of the magic our team has been working on! Y’all are angels. We cannot wait for you to see the film!

What an incredible honour it was to be a judge for the 71st @ivorsacademy awards. Blessed to have heard so much great music. Shout out to my fellow songwriters, artists, producers and musicians. You are seen and valued 🙌🏾

This one hit hard 💔

I remember when I first heard Voodoo and it was literally the only thing I listened to for months. In addition to already being obsessed with the late great Dilla, hearing this album COMPLETELY shifted my approach to harmony, chords, bass lines..EVERYTHING. Grooving with so much lax, your head might fall off!

Rest in eternal peace to a teacher I never had the privilege of meeting (or seeing live 😢💔).

Robert Kiruta-Kigozi, known professionally as R-Kay, is an IVORS-nominated composer and producer from South London. His sound blends classical training with Hip-Hop, Jazz, and Soul influences, shaped by both film composition and artist collaboration. He scored Channel 4’s Damilola: The Boy Next Door, which was nominated for a BAFTA and won both RTS and Broadcast Awards.

Other recent work includes Seeds (a BAFTA and BIFA-qualifying short selected for Manchester Film Festival 2025) and Thunder City’s own The Light, currently on its festival run.
