How do you learn from failure and mistakes without getting lost in self-criticism and doubt?

There aren’t any straight forward answers to this question, outside of “time” and "consistency". I have always struggled with this. Especially when venturing into a new area in life, it’s natural to fail often and have doubts about your success. Sometimes, this mindset bleeds into areas of life that you already have many years of experience in. That makes it even harder. The fact that you have been doing something for so long doesn’t keep you from falling back into a poor mindset.

You have to give yourself grace at every step of the way. One can never truly lose, if they never admit defeat. I use this statement as a reminder that there is no end. Failure will fade, and so will success. You just need to keep doing.

This is not only a message for everyone, but to myself. I’ve just turned 23, and it’s been a very impactful year. I've lost people and gained people. Started new pursuits, stopped past ones. I've struggled along the way. But I refuse to admit defeat to my own doubts.

I make these videos not only to show you what Raah can do, but to show my own path. They are not meant to be perfect, because I'm not perfect. Neither is anyone's path. But that is the beauty of living, you get to experience it all.

How do you stay detached from something you love? Should you be?

Yes and no. I have experimented with both sides; detaching yourself completely from what you’re doing and putting your whole heart into.

They've both taught me a very important lesson: nothing matters if you don’t care about it. You’re the one who gives what you’re doing value (at least most of the time). As a teenager, I had the same level of passion and need for creativity as I do now, but I was too afraid of the result to start things. In my late teens was when I forwent this mentality, and shifted to caring as little as possible about the result. And sure this worked for a bit, but I hit a road block that forced me to reconsider things.

These amazing projects I’m doing are only valuable “because” I care not only about the experience, but also the result. I learned that it’s okay to bask in your achievements, while also recognizing where you can learn.

And that (surprise, surprise) a balanced approach is the only approach.

On The Path: Episode 1

I remember wondering what I was going to do with my life. As a kid, I always had wild dreams about becoming an astronaut or a zoologist, but I never really worried about it. As I got older, I started to search for answers, researching the different paths I could take. I came up with a general idea of where I wanted to be, but I didn’t realize how bumpy the road would be.

How it would be filled with uncertainty and doubt, even though I could see the light at the end of the tunnel. I’m at a point in life where I know just enough to realize that there is still so much more to learn. And that the process of learning is the best part of the journey. So don’t be afraid to try. It’s all part of your path

This series is meant to be a way to document my thoughts while growing Raah Creative. Hope you all like it!
