An ode to Kashmir 🍁

"Merey Watan Teri Jannat Mein Ayengey Aik Din" was written in 1965. It consists of verses in Urdu and Kashmiri languages, Urdu written by Hafiz Mazhar-ud-Din while the later written by Mehmood Jami. The music was composed by Inayat Shah.

A tribute to the Queen of Melody, the late Lata Mangeshkar jee. "Yaad Kiya Dil Nay Kahan Ho Tum" was performed in 1953 by then a young Lata Mangeshkar and Hemant Kumar for the film Patita. The lyrics were written by Hasrat Jaipuri and music composed by Shankar Jaikishan. There are numerous remakes and redition of this classic song, my most favorite being the one by Jagjit Singh.

"Tu Hoon Mein Fana Ho Ja" is one of the numerous Sufi poetries by Allama Nasir Uddin Nasir Hunzai, the father of Burushaski language and author of many sufi books not only in Burushaski but Urdu and Farsi as well.

It's a Sunday evening and a little cousin of mine I'm babysitting is playing a game in the background.

"Unar Bey Gor Lel" is a Burushaski song written and performed by Shahid Akhtar Qalandar @shahidakhtarqalandar, one of the pioneering artists from Hunza Valley to introduce eastern classical fusion with a modern touch into the Hunza folk music. His albums often featured Hunza Classical Group, a local band that played the two major traditional instruments (Dadung and Daamal) while adding Bansuri (Indian flute) and electric keyboard to create beats that were widely used in the Burushaski songs of late 90s and early 2000s.

"Tum Chaley Aao Paharoon Ki Qasam" Rabab Instrumental.

This song was written and originally performed by Pashto singer #KamalMasood. It got popularity after media widely used the track during news coverage of #AliSadpara's disappearance while his summit push on #K2, the second highest peak in the world.
