Ein winziger Smaragd im Pflanzenmeer – der Grüne Schildkäfer (Cassida viridis). 🪲✨
Perfekt angepasst an seine Umgebung wirkt er fast wie ein lebendes Blatt. Besonders spannend: Unter seinem schildförmigen Panzer verbergen sich die Flügel, die man nur in genau dem richtigen Moment zu sehen bekommt – wie hier.

Ein unscheinbarer, winziger Käfer – doch in der Makroansicht ein echtes kleines Juwel. ✨
Das Rothalsige Getreidehähnchen (Oulema melanopus) zeigt erst unter starker Vergrößerung seine metallischen Farben und feinen Strukturen. Gefunden habe ich dieses Exemplar Ende Oktober, als es sich die letzten warmen Sonnenstrahlen des Jahres eingefangen hat. 🪲☀️

Seit längerer Zeit mal wieder ein Bild ganz ohne Focusstacking – einfach nur mit einer kleineren Blende, um die Details in einer einzigen Aufnahme einzufangen. Es war richtig erfrischend, sich wieder auf das eine perfekte Einzelbild zu konzentrieren, anstatt die Ebenen am PC zu verrechnen. Die Details dieses Prachtlibellen-Porträts zeigen mir, dass auch die klassische Technik ihren ganz eigenen Charme hat.

I’m stepping out of my comfort zone and trying to work with purely natural light. It feels quite different from my usual workflow, and I’m definitely still finding my way. This Large White on a thistle was a nice subject for a bit of practice. Any tips or feedback on how to handle natural light better are more than welcome! 🦋🌿

Caught in a moment of pure survival: I believe this is a Coenosia tigrina, also known as a Tiger Fly, enjoying its meal while hanging from a stem of fennel. These small but fierce predators are masters of the hunt, and witnessing them with their catch is always a highlight in the garden. Nature is as brutal as it is beautiful. 🌿🔎

Ertappt in einem Moment des puren Überlebenskampfes: Ich vermute, dass es sich hier um eine Coenosia tigrina (Tigerfliege) handelt, die ihre Beute verspeist, während sie am Fenchel hängt. Even a horsefly needs to refuel. In times of extreme heat and drought, any water source becomes a vital lifeline. I spotted this one taking a drink right off the pool mat—a stark reminder of how challenging dry spells are for our local insect population. When water is scarce, they take what they can get. 💧🔎

Selbst eine Bremse muss mal tanken. In Zeiten extremer Hitze und Trockenheit wird jede Wasserstelle zu einer lebenswichtigen Quelle. Ich habe diese Bremse erwischt, wie sie direkt von der Poolmatte trinkt – ein deutlicher Hinweis darauf, wie herausfordernd die trockenen Tage für unsere Insektenpopulation sind. Sobald irgendwo Wasser ist, tanken viele Insekten nach. 💧🔎
