We're big fans of parts bin upgrades here, this Specialized Status was in a bit of a questionable state when it arrived... kinda reminds us of why we got into this game

Correct spec rear wheel built up, proper tyres, appropriate sized rotors, and some functional suspension fitted up - now it's status, should be fast.

Straight into some #tamarikishredderseries action this weekend, looking forward to seeing how the young cuzzy goes between the tape with it🤙🏼

Been a minute between posts... joys of being a one-man-band, sometimes you get busy and something has to give. Anyway, onwards and upwards... hope everyone's keeping it together out there🤙🏼

Just finished a little work on this Trek for a longtime customer (the fun stuff - internal cabling) so he can go partake in some night racing... apparently it's a big thing🤷🏻‍♂️

Today's big job: drivetrain replacement, and a brake upgrade for our mate Steve. Gone are his stock Guide RE's and taking their place, a shiny fresh set of @magura_au_nzl MT5s and MDR-C rotors.

These have been a favorite of ours for some time now, price point, stopping power, and great support.

Righto folks, over the weekend Racebikes hit a bit of a crossroads: we've had to vacate our spot on Acheron drive due to a couple of circumstances that have come up... however, fear not! We're not throwing in the towel and running away. Another version of HQ will be up and running in the coming few days, all going to plan. Watch this space!

In the meantime, a stop-gap workshop is coming online tomorrow to take care of you that are waiting on bikes. Don't stress. We'll get you rolling before Christmas

Those of you waiting on bikes can expect further info soon

While we're here as well, will be lurking around canterbury over the Christmas break if you send it too hard and do your bike a mischief

Been a freakin big week on the tools at Racebikes HQ this week, still a bit behind the curve going into the weekend which is something we're not thrilled about... a difficult decision has been made, to put a hold on taking new services on til after the 5th of March so we can catch up (happy to take bookings before this, just drop us a line)

Thanks for everyone's patience while we dig our way out of the sea of work currently occupying our HQ, if you're still waiting... we are getting towards ya✌️

Before vs after:

Everybody, this is Dan.
Dan is a happy man, because Dan has a freshly restored @konabikes 2002 stab primo frame (like us here at Racebikes, he likes his retro stuff)

We tore it apart and removed bearings/bushings etc so he could have the paintwork freshened up, then we reassembled it with fresh bearings and recut the BB & headtube.
Now he has to pick his build kit😂 watch this space...

Welcome to 2024 everyone! Hope you all had a safe and enjoyable holidays.

After a short break to reset and gather thoughts, we are back on the tools and making your rides fast, 2023 was a time of learning... time to put that into practice and get things cranking again

One of the first jobs for the year, decided was worth sharing. A little work on some Avid elixirs has revealed that this @rockshox totems post mount threads were both stripped... a quick helicoil and they're as good as new again.
TL: DR, Check ya bolts kids, if there's only a couple of threads holding your front brake to the fork - that could end your day in most unpleasant ways. It's avoidable and the repair is a lot cheaper than a new face😉
The #ironhorse7point frame they're fitted to is pretty sweet too... jussayin by @racebikesnz

A couple of months ago, @kate.turnersyme and @monz_turner_syme approached us about pumptrack/DJ bikes... keen to get one to play around the many pumptracks popping up in the 03 and beyond. Sure, an off the shelf option would be fine... but where's the fun in that!? Something special was required

The result is a @mongoosebikes fireball frame, sporting a fresh coat of sparkly pink paint courtesy of Elite Powdercoaters, and a spec package from Josh's stash of cool stuff... a little bit of awesome, and it's ready for some good times (maybe even a sneaky entry for the recently announced Pumptrack nationals at the #nigelmahanmemorialpumptrack 😏)

Needless to say, Kate and Monz were chuffed with the result and have put it straight to work. Can't wait to see where it pops up next in our great nation🤘🏻 by @racebikesnz

Last year, @georgechapman131 came to us with a bit of a project... he'd not long signed with @zerodebikes and was planning a singlespeed build for work and play - with a twist:
"I'm keen to run it with a belt drive, whattaya reckon?"
Science was done, magic was practiced, and now we present the results 👌

Soon to be seen throwing shapes @christchurchprk and also on the @crankworx NZ series

Once it was all said and done, needless to say George was itching to get out there on it - @p_h_media captured some rippers of bike and rider on a local favorite for such bikes, Rad>sick in #victoriapark by @racebikesnz

Welp.... that most wonderful time of year is upon us again - every man, woman and their dog wants something done yesterday for their holiday trip... us included!

The plan is to have everything done for the year and collected by 6pm on Friday the 23rd, if for some reason you can't work with that - let us know and we'll do our best to be accommodating.
In the new year, we'll be back on deck to get bikes back to functional state after the jolly-good-thrashing they're no doubt in for, from the 10th of January.
We've got space for a couple more jobs next week so get in quick if you've got big adventures planned and want your bikes running proper

Lastly, a big thanks to everyone who has supported us this year! Look forward to seeing you trailside over the break🤙🏼
