19.74 years, 237 months, 7,211 days, 173,064 hours, 10,383,840 minutes, 623,030,400 seconds. And I will be cherishing every last second forever. To my beautiful, extraordinary, unwavering with love, selfless, and loving mom. You gave me the best years I could have ever asked for. You loved me with everything you had, even when I had trouble recognizing it. You pushed me to be my best, refused to let me give up, and I will honor you by chasing those very dreams that you dreambt alongside me. You’ll always be my guiding light, and I’ll carry your love in everything I do. Words cannot explain the love you instilled in me through the millions of memories and laughs. I will cherish the image of your smile, and I will never look at the color pink again without thinking of you. Thank you to the most dedicated, skilled, and incredible healthcare professionals that cared for my mom with a kindness that I could never describe or be more grateful for. I know that Claire and Rachel were signs from you mom. Olivia, Katie, Rachel, and Claire, and so many others, you will truly never know all know the impact you made on myself as well as my families lives. To Gift of Life, for honoring my moms wishes and allowing my mom to not only save but also change dozens of lives. She will live on through those who receive her gifts. And to whoever that is I hope to meet you one day. But in the meantime and forever after, I will never treat a stranger the same because they could be blessed with a gift from my mom. As you ALWAYS reminded me and Lizzie. “She believed she could, so she did” And because of you. We believe we can and we will. We are going to live out every dream to make you proud and honor you. I know you are watching over me, I got all of the signs you sent my way, and that is what brought me to peace which is where I know that you are. I promise to live everyday to the fullest and fulfill our favorite songs lyrics by one day saying “I did it all”. Thank you for everything, I’m gonna miss you more than you will ever know. I’ll see you again some day. Until then. I will continue to make you proud. I love you forever momma. 🤍🪽 by @rachelemma5

1 year. Before my mom, I had never experienced grief. I imagined I’d understand it. But until it’s yours, & you’re forced to… you won’t. Since, I’ve seen how people tend to tiptoe around absence, maybe to avoid reopening wounds. But, this year my favorite thing has been to do the opposite and to talk about my mom every chance I get. Because I didn’t tell her enough how truly incredible she was, & now that I can’t, I’ll always wish I had. Now I speak about her with anyone who will listen. For those who never got the blessing of knowing her to know how honored I am to be her daughter always & forever. In a better world, she’d have been here for every good & bad moment this year & I would give anything to hear her voice outside of memories, but this year I’ve seen myself grow into someone she’d be so proud & happy to see experiencing the joy & happiness she prayed I’d find. I’ve felt her in the people who carried me when I couldn’t carry myself. I believe as my guardian angel she knew I would need them through discovering I’m stronger than my grief. This year I’ve learned grief is a lot of unspent love & unshared memories with nowhere else to go. My mom was supposed to watch me graduate college, follow my dreams, get married, have kids… & share it all with me. When that’s taken away, & you lose someone… you realize how fragile life is & how important it is that love isn’t withheld. Life shouldn’t be taken for granted, the good & bad of it, because once all moments are gone, you’d do anything to have anything back just because you miss it all so much. Something beautiful thing I’ve seen in loss is overflowing/outpouring displays of loving out loud through grief. This reminded me that no matter how ugly life can get… it’s still so beautiful. Mom, I see you everywhere. In the mountains, out west, the sunset, in Lizzie, Dads smile/laugh, family, friends that became family, cocoa, our favorite songs and movies, friends episodes, Chicago, mountains, barefoot wines, the color pink, & so much more. Cheers to your first year in heaven & all the adventures and hikes I know you went on. I love you to heaven & back Momma. 🩷 by @rachelemma5
