This is a project I've had in my sewing room since last summer and kept putting off as i convinced myself that it wasn't going to work with all the details and the fabric I'd chosen... it turns out I was wrong! This is the @maisonfauveuk #daiquiridress made in a beautiful cotton broderie anglaise from @fabricgodmother . As the fabric has a lot of holes in it I also made a short #saltwaterslipdress from @fridaypatterncompany as a petticoat, but i can wear this alone as a mini dress if I want. I wanted to show off the pattern along the hem by adding a wavy hem, this was done through a facing.It feels so good to finish those projects I put off only to question why I didn't get it finished sooner! #sewistsofinstagram #sewist #isewmyclothes by @rachelle_makes

Very proud of this outfit...I only had the inspiration for it last weekend and started making last Monday but managed to just about finish it to wear to a friend's wedding on Saturday. The skirt is a basic circle skirt in a lovely flowy light/dark pink zebra print viscose i think i got at @thestitchfestival then the top is the @ourlady.sewingpatterns #daiquiridress but hacked as a strapless top to have lacing at the back for a really good fit and made from this amazingly bright pink cord. I faced the top but just used bias to finish the bottom. Forgot to get a pic of the back while I was wearing it but the lacing was made from the viscose so it tied the outfit together. I added a little bit of sew in boning to add a bit of structure to the back and interfaced all pieces of the top. #sewistsofinstagram #weddingguestoutfit #isewmyclothes #handmadewardrobe by @rachelle_makes

Lovely quick make last night to use up a 1/2m of this fabric. This is the @helens__closet #ashtontop made in a lovely colourful cotton poplin from @bornellafabrics and i made the cropped length which perfect for this weather! I think i might have made my new favourite dress. This is the @closetcorepatterns #jennashirt made in the dress version in this lovely yarn dyed cotton from @higgsandhiggs which i bought at the @thestitchfestival back in March. I finished this within a couple of weeks of the event but haven't got round to taking photos. It's such an easy wear dress and I have already worn it in so many different weathers and situations. I have already gone back to get another colourway to make a second as I think I may have to actually wash it sometimes and find something else to wear 🫠🤪The only alteration i made was to add 1.5" to the sleeves #memademay #isewmyclothes #sewist #handmadewardrobe by @rachelle_makes

And this is my 2nd #blancaflightsuit made in the ubiquitous ace leopard print denim from @fabricgodmother Once again I added elastic into the back waistband which gives it much more shape even without a belt. #handmadewardrobe #sewistsofinstagram by @rachelle_makes

I have been really slow at posting my last few makes. This is actually a dress I made last winter as a full length maxi but I felt like it was too bottom heavy so never wore it. However since trimming the ruffle i have got so much use from it.The pattern is the #bhlsarahshirt dress in this gorgeous @fabricgodmother viscose twill. #isewmyclothes #sewist #sewbitchsew #sewistsofinstagram by @rachelle_makes

I finished this coat about 2 months ago and still haven't actually finished adding the buttons to the hood but I've worn it so much this autumn. The leopard print is a pre-quilted Ace print from @fabricgodmother and the inner are plain cottons from @minervadotcom. The pattern is the #emmijacket from @papercutpatterns and it was honestly a really enjoyable sew despite it being fully reversible. At some point I might try and make some alternative collars as it cones with about 4 styles but for now the hood is getting a lot of use.The only changes I made were to add about 4cm length to the sleeves and a bit of extra space for hair and some elastic around the hood. It's that time of year when I make a few things for others! This is an age 8 pinny hack of the #heydaydungarees for my daughters bestie for her birthday. The fabric is a lovely soft denim from @rainbowfabrickilburn which I bought without a definite plan of what I was going to use it for. Now I've made this I'm really loving it, so we'll have to think what to make from the rest for me (if there is enough after making a matching one of these for my daughter!)#sewist #isewmyclothes #sewistsofinstagram @wavesandwild #sewingforgirls by @rachelle_makes

Haven't posted many of my recent makes but I'm particularly pleased with this one. It's the @maisonfauveuk #rosaliepattern which i made up in this lovely ditsy print deadstock from @fabricgodmother. The pattern comes together beautifully, I made a 38 but I took around 3cm off the bust pieces and 4cm off the sides around the waist so I think i possibly could have sized down but I'm really happy with the fit. As it's got lots of seams there are plenty of places to adjust if necessary. I love all the little details like the gathering on the bust and the little ties on the sleeves which elevates it without making it too fussy. Photo dump of an absolutely gorgeous weekend in Faro with Daisy. Can't recommend Faro enough, such a perfect place for a weekend away, the beaches out in the Ria Formosa were so clean, quiet and beautiful and the city itself is the perfect size for mooching. Plus I bought a big hat, which i am quite fond of 🤠😎 For my sewing friends, you will notice my #saturdayskirtset and a first peak of my very new #Emmijacket getting some good use on our last day when the weather wasn't quite so sunny (I'll post about this soon)#weekendbreak #isewmyclothes #isewmyholidaywardrobe by @rachelle_makes

What better place than a beautiful island in the Ria Formosa to show off my latest make! This is the #b6702 in the knee-length with 3/4 sleeves. It fits like a dream with the a/b cup bodice pieces meaning the bust is just perfect (it also comes with c/d cup). The skirt takes a fair bit of fabric so even with 3m i only just squeezed everything in a i wanted the border all the way around it. The fabric is a gorgeous viscose i bought from @bornellafabrics at the #stitchfestival back in March. I have had this in my to finish pile for so long that by the time I finished it summer was over in the UK so it was lovely to bring it on my weekend away with a friend. It feels so chic and summery, I look forward to being able to wear it to work when the sun comes back next year. #sewist #isewmyclothes #sewistsofinstagram #handmade #handmadewardrobe #portugal #faroportugal #riaformosa by @rachelle_makes
