The sign is up! @meetthedarling !!! I have so many feelings and it’s been keeping me so busy, but im trying to pause and celebrate these moments of it all coming together.

The last few years have been crazy and I would have never thought this would be possible if you had asked me 4 years ago.

I’m so grateful for all of you who have helped and supported me. You know who you are.

I’m planning on opening The Darling in a few short weeks! 🎉

I didn’t open a salon to do it like everyone else.
Different from the industry standard? Yes. Better for everyone in the room? Also yes. Is it cool? Yes. 😎

My team has full control over their schedule, bookings and clientele. Online booking makes it easy.

And no it’s not “built in”. Tipping exists to patch a bad system. So I gave my team control of their rate.

We price for our time, not for the service. No guessing games, no up-sells or sticker shock. And we aren’t guessing either. Simple.

And can raise it whenever they want. No hurdles to jump through or red tape or weird stuff to accomplish first.

Our job is to do great hair, not sell you stuff you most likely don’t need. My team has no retail sales quotas.

No approval process. No guilt. No making up time. For real.

None of this is how the industry says a salon should run. But every choice; online booking, no tipping, hourly pricing, stylists setting their own rate, no retail quotas, real time off, works for a reason. It works better for my clients, my team, and the business.

If this is the kind of salon you’d want to work in (or get your hair done in) you know where to find us. 💃🏻 by @rachelsrad

The best time was had in NYC with my friends at @destroythehairdresser

I already can’t wait for the next one 💣 by @rachelsrad

It’s happening!!!! @ceremonythesalon is getting a sister!

After 12 years of salon ownership with Ceremony, I’m spreading the love to Durham. Another place where stylists can thrive on their own terms, and clients can feel as special as they are.

The Darling. A new place to get great hair coming to Downtown Durham this fall, from the owner of Ceremony Salon. 😎
